A lot of people lamenting how lqubtqiia2+ have a monopoly on rainbows now and if you have rainbow anything people might interpret it as a Statement. What if people...took back the rainbow? What if "white supremacists" and "alt right" types started using the rainbow as a symbol for their own purposes thus muddying its meaning? Or conservative Christians started a movement using it as a symbol of faith in reference to the rainbow after the flood. Or like how 4chan made the OK hand gesture into something forbidden. If it had multiple opposing meanings, rainbows would just be pretty colors again.

I know corporate is going to corporate and that our messages probably mean nothing but I'm just curious what these corporations think when they get backlash. Do they not think they're going to turn off even the mildly conservative? I fully embrace that gay people are part of our society, but I don't want to celebrate them, I don't want to celebrate ethnic groups, I don't want to celebrate divisive issues, even if it's something I like or agree with. It's not appropriate, and should never be assumed or compulsory. A pop-up window asking if I want to fag up my desktop for the month would have been an adequate compromise.
