there are women activists who advocate joint competitions with men. They see separation as sexism and really just look at the date women entered high sport and the difference in the salaries of athletes.
The introduction of new categories for those who wish is fully justified.

1) nobody would care about it

It’s ultimately cowardice. I’m glad they made this decision, but they didn’t have the courage to come out and say “transwomen are men and need to fuck off out of female categories.” So they based it on “male puberty” instead and handed problems off to other people to deal with.

Given the lengths certain countries go to to produce Olympic athletes I wouldn’t be surprised if this leads to a few unfortunate little boys getting castrated with amholes installed at age 11.
