Also keep in mind that aside from no tourists, there would also have not been any new long-term residents coming in. I'm betting a whole bunch of English teachers lost their jobs and went home and nobody came in to replace them since there were no IRL classes for them to teach and the gubmint wouldn't have let them in anyway. I really don't think it's odd for the overseas death rates to have dropped a whole lot for not only Americans in Japan but for any foreign nationality in any nation in the last two years.
Based on comments I'm seeing on some of these tweets, Lina Asahi "hacked" into Hector's stream as an April 1st joke. Charitably, this is a reference to that.

It could also be an extremely on the nose reference to Lina being Byuu/Near/David Kirk Ginder making a comeback? That might be a reach, it might not be.
The timing is certainly interesting, given that this seems to show up all of a sudden in April of this year just after the anticipated update to the US Deaths Overseas list failed to materialize. The more conspiracy minded among us would perhaps suspect this group is cover for Byuu as Lina to make a quiet comeback under a pseudonym while shielded by group identity, but waiting until there's at least a good chance of a 6 month buffer before the next update to the list in the hopes that things can be established before anyone looks too hard.
All we can be pretty sure of is that Lina and Hector claim to be different people, and I would tend to agree as I don't think that Hector Marcan is the type to abandon his existing platform for an anime girl facecam, even if he will participate in a conspiracy to cover up a fake suicide of his friend.
Edit: Better sleuths than I have better substantiated guesses that this is in fact Marcan so unless there's evidence contradicting that I'll go with it, the pitch shifted audio and the presence /home/marcan convinces me unless there's some way things could be networked that would explain that reasonably.

I was looking for this in regards to the Twitter meltdown thread. Reading it again, you think there’s a chance Byuu is CAI, the game Developer of the group? First of all, it's unnatural deaths only. Second, strings without suicides (rather than deaths altogether) commonly hit 6+ months of length (I posted 2010 and 2016 in the other thread, 8 and 9 months respectively). The four suicides in the 2021 data also check out with the average number of suicides per year and don't cluster around any particular half of the year. If the data was truncated, it should be below average.

The site finally updating and showing no sign of Byuu may not be the perfect proof we'd love to see (after all, the absence of evidence is not the evidence of absence), but I think it's as close as we're ever going to get to having any sort of definitive evidence. There's no way the Japanese government would be so negligent as to just happen to overlook this one random American's suicide and sweep it neatly under the rug for no particular reason but the convenience of some people's narratives.

You guys just don't understand: The fabric of reality itself is woven by twitter randos and the progressive activist-journalists who make a living out of writing articles on them. Wikipedia, which then quotes said journos, is the supreme arbiter of truth. Therefore, Byuu was driven to suicide by Kiwifarms incel terrorists.
