Its not even that he doesn't care about immersion, he just has no sense of curiosity whatsoever and genuinely does not care about any of these worlds/characters in the video games he plays. He doesn't give a shit about any of these games and its pretty obvious. It would actually be kinda funny if he would just be honest and admit he's just going through the motions for the money but he chooses to pretend to like these games when its quite obvious he doesn't.
A lot of times people on here speculate on what he could do different and how he could improve but the main thing that would improve his streams/attitude would be to develop an honest interest in video games. That's really it. All the shit he talks about other streamers being fake or whatever and he's the biggest faker of all sitting there every single day pretending to like video games when its quite clear he doesn't care about them at all and is miserable playing them.

There are countless other streamers and VTubers out there who at the very least would be capable of showing more gratitude for that kind of money. You could get the same parasocial relationship with someone who isn't a card carrying piece of shit with a double digit IQ.

The other day I caught a brief glitched eye mechanics moment but it was impossible to screenshot, it had to be seen in motion. I couldn't be bothered clipping it/making a gif. This one was way worse.
I wonder if it's his alcoholism that's causing these weird chameleon eyed moments. It's fucking disturbing to witness.

I feel like a fool for not knowing about this lore until know, but it just goes to show that phil was doomed to fail. Rather than focusing his ire at questionable studios and devs, he shat on content creators who might have elevated him through possible joint projects or cameos.

Out of habit/sunk cost fallacy. For me, it's a genuine example of Phil being lucky. Like you said, there are plenty of other people he could support and actually get something from, but Phil is lucky enough that he gets chosen out of all of them. It's hard to remember now given his numbers, but there was a point where Phil was weirdly popular. Some followers are surprisingly loyal to content creators. Look at Spoony, dude hasn't really put out any meaningful content in years, but he still has patreon supporters and people who throw money at him the few times he shambles onto stream.
It says a lot that Phil has pushed away most of these fans, but there's still a few that are latched on and not going anywhere. Jeff being one of them. After all this time, he's deluded himself into thinking his money matters to Phil. To us, it makes no sense because we're able to use basic logic. Phil is basically the equivalent to Jeff of what Champions is to Phil. A dopamine hit that he's too addicted to stop throwing money into. And he's so invested, if he stopped, he'd have to face the reality of all the money he wasted, so he keeps trying to push through and deny reality.

However, Phil isn't a sneakerhead, not realizing he could've accepted them, showed them off ONCE or twice, kept them inside the box, SOLD them, and have his gin paid for the month! However, no! He's gonna be a dick about everything.
