Watching the Gura concert from earlier and while model clipping's always going to be an issue with more elaborate productions like this, it seems Ame's model in particular is scuffed as fuck, the jacket keeps clipping through the rest of the outfit. Pippa was talking about something that caught my attention. She said she thought by the first year she would be at 100k subs on her shitposting, but she would be streaming to maybe a hundred people when in reality she would be under 40k but streaming for 500 people a stream. I've been watching Kawaii streamers lately and what surprised me is that Nene is approaching 150 subs last I checked but she's lucky to get maybe 200 viewers a stream. The rest of Kawaii is lucky to get 100.

Is Pippa a flash in the pan? A minor Gura in the small corporate scene? The rest of Phase Connect are also doing better stream viewing numbers compared Kawaii, so I have to wonder if Kawaii subtly botting their talent numbers. They managed to raise the money for a full set of 3D so they have to have an audience but they all just seem absent when the talent goes live.

Sub to CCV ratio can vary wildly in fairness; Pippa's numbers are probably closer because her style and humour's not as accessible hence the lower sub count, but she fills that very specific niche perfectly so the people who're interested in her stuff follow closely (as evidenced by this turning into a Pippa fan thread every time she's streaming, guilty as charged for contributing to that lmao).

I wouldn't assume botting for a wider split honestly; inactive subs are a common thing especially for live content. If you're subscribed to even just a handful of vtubers you probably have multiple 3+ hour streams running on your sub feed at any given time and there's no way anyone's gonna be able to watch all of that - but most people tend not to bother unsubscribing from channels they don't watch that often so it can make the sub count look inflated even though it's genuine.

Off the top of my head I can think of only 4 'Internet savvy' vtubers that dont really pander to that audience.
Pippa, Moriko, Mari and Mint, and all of them have a huge CCV to followers ratio.

Finding that sweet spot's an art in itself and I think Pippa gets it spot on. Helps that she doesn't try to market herself as "based" or edgy or whatever (hell I distinctly remember her actively downplaying the whole "epic based rabbit" thing during the Ralph stream) so expectations are in check; she's a shitposter, not a drama channel or political commentator or whatever. I guess it's easier to keep a handle on things now the IBS tourists have either left or integrated properly so people in chat know how to read the room most of the time.

Was looking at twitter while watching Gura concert. Saw a tweet from FallenShadow saying she was going to talk about her cat, Marley for a bit. She mentioned at the beginning and a couple other times she was not going to read chat. It was a black screen the whole time.

Watching 2views has highlighted how talents have to interact differently at each stage of success. 2views live and die on each person showing up and hopefully membering for general financial welfare. Push to 3view and the calculus might start: how hard are you inclining and can you afford to not bond with OG's? 4view and above is all about content - you are clear of the parasocial bog and if you choose to GFE or similar you do so on top.

One thing that really bugs me about facedoxxing is that as someone who watches Vtubers, I'm in it for the kayfabe. This medium is cool because you can be judged on your talent instead of your looks, and yet people insist on, say, comparing Pomu to fucking Pantsu Party just because they have features in common. She also is a great example of: staying true to your interests is interesting and also small doses of people you wouldn't normally hang out with is something that makes vtubers fun.
