As someone who's written trivial assembler programs and needed them to be cycle accurate I'm glad bsnes exists, but as someone who enjoys old games why the fuck would you bother when snes9x runs almost everything save for a few jrpgs, has netplay and runs on a potato.

It makes me wonder what'd happen if they actually tried it with the condition that the money would go to Null's legal fund in the case that byuu's identity couldn't be proven. It's well known, though. That's why the same people always recommend the Super Game Boy 2.

If you want a decent example of a case for cycle accurate emulation, Super FX games, especially ones with cutscenes, run more like they're supposed to in that emulator. In the case of ones with cutscenes, the scenes don't desync from the music and end too early or late. Even for something that's only a few seconds long, it still changes the result significantly.
