You must not be American. Ask almost any couple in their 20s/30s here if they can afford to raise a child right now.

I'm not. Food prices are the same here but a child's tugboat is $16/month. I still don't understand how a couple in a committed relationship can abort a baby for financial reasons. What if they had a baby and then things went down, what then? Would they throw the kid out? I'm not talking fetal personhood; the effect is the same: "we love each other and we could've had a kid we'd have loved but money is tight so no". I'm not saying abortion is immoral (I don't think it is), it just boggles the mind that if the father and mother are willing to move heaven and earth for a born child, they wouldn't do the same for an unborn child.
