IMO, the problem isn’t the cold, hard facts of the surgery, it’s the culture around transition.

They tell people that there are possibilities of complication, but then you have this culture that tells troons that once you get your dick or your tits cut off, everything will be perfect forever and there is basically no chance that you will be anything other than euphoric. And once you’ve started questioning your gender, the troons won’t let you go. You will never, ever see a trans discussion group where someone says, “Well, you know, those are also signs of autistic spectrum disorder.” Or, “I know things suck, but every teenager feels that way and it gets better.”

The Emancipation Proclamation was issued two years earlier which freed the slaves only in the rebellious states. It took an amendment to the Constitution to finally free the slaves in the states that had remained with the North. That wouldn't be passed until six months later in December.

You know who kept a lot of black slaves? The natives. No idea when the last of their slaves were freed, but it must've been the early 20th century. History is messy and inconvenient.
