General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

Some news: Jingai Kyoshitsu vol 2 will be released in August. This is an LN series that is written by Kurusu Natsume of Nijisanji JP and published by MF Bunko, one of the many LN imprints that are a part of Kadokawa. Volume 1 was apparently pretty succesful. I haven't read it as to my knowledge there's no translation yet, but I find it interesting as to my knowledge it's pretty unique in being a major published fiction work being written by a vtuber that is unrelated to the vtuber's character.

In other news, this might have been posted here earlier, but Nekota Tsuna debuted for VSPO today. It seems pretty likely that she's Bora, a vtuber who graduated from NijiKR around 8 months ago. Her voice and APEX certainly match up, and Bora trended on Twitter for a bit - not too surprising, given that there's a pretty large overlap between Nijisanji and VSPO fans.

Personally I'm glad, VSPO is a good place for her given their focus on FPS gaming and that her fanbase was mostly Japanese. She's a great pick on VSPO's part, as she's bound to be popular, has connections with other vtubers and pros, and is a strong tournament player. I must admit that I haven't watched much VSPO as of now. Maybe that'll change thanks to Nekota.

I did see some slight worry because VSPO was recently acquired by Brave Group, a company infamous from the early days of vtubing when their mismanagement torpedoed one of their vtuber groups, Game-bu. Back in 2018 Game-bu was one of the more popular vtuber groups before all the original VAs quit due to shitty management and were recast, a move that needless to say did not go well. Game-bu ended a while ago and Brave Group recently is more known for being in charge of RIOT Music, a vsinger agency that has been pretty successful (and that I'm personally a fan of). Their management of RIOT so far has been pretty good so hopefully they've turned a page as a company.

Well,RIP talking shit about vshojo then *sigh*
Vshojo doesnt count.

that's what she said last time after her last meltdown
This is what they all say after their last meltdown.

So basically it's a "Scuttle shut the fuck up" rule. I approve of this.
No, it's a "shut the fuck up about Scuttle being a nijifag" rule.

Well shit. Seamstress seems like automatic thread ban and possible Null freakout in the near future. So how long until Twitter spergout over the design?
Edit: Holy shit her mama's Pixiv is a goldmine

Also, I hope they keep their debuts to 20-30 minutes. From what I have seen, 1hr long debuts are a fucking drag. Stick to the Nijisanji formula. Fast but sweet.

She's singing 80's and 90's songs. So how old is she? Is she a hag?

Vshoujo is not a real vtuber org and people need to get that already. Thats why they function like they function and why they have no restrictions. There are no managers in the way that Hololive, Nijisangi or even PC talk about managers

Vshoujo is just a group for colaborations and sponsorships. They function just like any other streamer group.

Adding to my post about Nekota, I checked her Twitter and there are plenty of familiar names following her already - several Nijisanij livers, both ex-KR (Seffyna, Na Sera, Hari Ryu, Roha, Suha) and others (Selen, Chigusa, Seto Miyako, Amamya, ZEA, Mahiro, Nanami) - and pros like Cpt and Restya. These are all people Bora had some connection to, so yeah, pretty much confirms it in my mind, not that there was much doubt.

Im dissapointed at Melody, like, she back in the day avoided talking about BLM like the plague but now she decides to put a political tweet, when that was Zens work. Sucks to be under bad influence or maybe thats the price of becoming even more famous.
Maybe because BLM didn't concern her and this supreme court ruling does? Just cause you're left doesn't mean you need to stand for all of it.

Also one of gen 2s codename is lollipop and she holds a little bear around. Bruh. You fuckers are gonna have to pick gura or her, can't be both cause now you're looking really sus.
Green deer girl plays flavor of the month game in ~30:
A great palate cleanser compared to what I've seen so far today.

I'm not entirely up to speed with copyright laws in Japan, nor how stuff like this works, but would the manga technically make it Nijisanji's IP? How's Natsume guaranteed that whatever she made belongs to her and not the company? I really don't want to see another Melissa situation in the future lmfao. Bora reincarnating to JP might actually be a good thing. NijiKR was a shitfest branch.

I literally had no idea what the fuck everyone was talking about for the past 2 pages until I checked Twitter and saw something about America banning abortion or whatever lmfao. Who else are we expecting that's gonna go on a meltdown after this fiesta?

Until it came to the doxxing swatting shit then their talent freedom went out the window and according to Mouse they couldn't say anything about it

Based on what we know of corporate vtubing, including Nijisanji, typically IP produced by a vtuber under their vtuber name is owned by the company. Generally this comes into play with songs and the like. That isn't to say that vtubers don't make money off of such things directly, but ultimately the IP is owned by the company.

Given that this is situation without much precedent it is possible that some different legal arrangement was reached between Natsume, Anycolor, and Kadokawa, but obviously I can't say that is the case for sure. Being published means signing a contract with the publisher, how that was handled, we have no idea.

Whatever the case is, Natsume clearly saw it as beneficial to have her work published under her vtuber name instead of just submitting the manuscript to Kadokawa under her real name (the series has nothing to do with her character as "Natsume"), so I'm assuming she weighed the costs and benefits in her head. It could simply be that she used the Nijisanji connection to convince Kadokawa to actually publish the work, as they turn down most submissions they get, though from what people say it's apparently pretty good even in its own right.

America didn't ban abortion they turned a states rights issue wrongfully considered a constitutional issue into a states rights issue once more
