This is going to wind up being a massive L for Republicans in the long run when the eventual criminalization of abortion in red states results in:

1. An acceleration of the brain drain from red states to blue states as educated and upwardly mobile women and couples decide to leave at an even higher rate than they were before.
2. A significant increase in crime as more children are born into dysfunctional circumstances, increasing the burden upon the community, the taxpayer, and altogether making red states even worse places to live.

That's why I said "educated and upwardly mobile". The impact at the state level will come down to more than just whether or not the Republicans will benefit electorally (they likely won't, but I'll get to that later); there's also the practical consequences of losing taxpayer revenue, which will be compounded by the increased costs that criminalizing abortion will undoubtedly create for the states that go ahead with it.

You're clearly not seeing the broken window fallacy at play here. No amount of public support for increased policing is going to negate the fact that it will cost the taxpayer more money (an opportunity cost for the state in and of itself), and the reality is that more law enforcement is never going to fully make up for the fact that communities are going to be made worse places to live as a result of higher crime rates.

Ask yourself this: if you live in a neighborhood where your house has been burgled 3 times in the last 6 months, is knowing that the perpetrators have been caught and prosecuted really going to completely make up for the stress that living through this has caused you? I think not.

This is the main reason the US can't survive. There's this deliberate effort that things have to be a certain way everywhere. People complain about California being ruined and then other people complain that abortion should be a right in fucking Missouri.
