When you understand that the religion/mental illness of Modern and Postmodern Leftism is a particular strain of Gnosticism, most of their stances are readily comprehensible, including their bizarre and evil stance on abortion (FYI, I'm old-school safe-legal-rare early choice).
These Gnostics see Being itself as a prison (this is why it's a mental illness), and they, as Gnostics, are the only ones who know we're in that prison. Everyone else is an NPC and a guard (so now, Agent Smith in The Matrix makes sense).
Trans ideology is being imprisoned in the wrong body. The guards are other people who enforce gender and sex socially, though (Queer Marxism).
Their abortion view follows because being responsible for a child is a prison, plus bringing a life into prison-world is immoral.
Even having a child rather than aborting it is a prison, like with trans. It's being shackled to biology, your mortal coil, which is imprisons you in the awful, mundane world you never asked to be a part of and into which you were flung without your consent (Geworfen, Heidegger).
Literally everything the Left is doing that seems weird and extreme is immediately comprehensible in terms of the Hegelian–Marxist Gnostic faith ("Scientific Gnosticism"), which is the operating system of the Left and has been for over a century.
Critical Race Theory is the belief that "people of color" are imprisoned in a world that imposes race upon them, but that world is the social structure that upholds "whiteness" and enacts "white supremacy" as a "systemic racist" prison.
Max Horkheimer said he invented Critical Theory because it isn't possible to express the good society in the terms of existing society (a prison at the level of its terms) but we can criticize those aspects of the existing society we don't like (learn to see and cut the bars).
French postmodern Leftist Michel Foucault made it pretty literal and said just about everything is a prison. Life's features in society for him exist "on the carceral continuum." If course, that's where Queer Theory got most of its juice and hijacked radical feminism with it.
This is intrinsically Leftist because it all traces back to Rousseau, from whose ideas the term Leftism later arose, because he thought society, logic, law, manners, etc., impose too much restriction upon Man (imprisoning him). His answer was a collectivist Social Contract.
It's literally delusional psychopathology. A psychopathology is a persistent mental condition that prevents normal interaction within everyday life. Needing to reorder the world around you because you believe it imprisons you at the ontological level is that.
The Hegelian–Marxist (dialectical) faith built around this is a hodgepodge mystery religion where knowledge of the imprisonment (Gnosticism) is combined with a process of escape (dialectical alchemy, Hermeticism), fashioned awkwardly (inverted) into a Western–Judeo–Christian mold
Because it arose in the early Enlightenment Western context in Germany in particular, it tries to pass itself off as "Science," or as the true "System of Science," "System der Wissenschaft." It turns Leftist into Socialism, "Wissenschaftlicher Sozialismus" with Marx.
In short, if you want to understand the Leftist view of any subject, you have to understand they think they're pulling a prison break from some awful prison, but no one really escapes the prison until we abolish the prison, all together. Being itself is the prison, though.
