US California Megathread - The thread dedicated to America's largest open air insane asylum

The official state flag of California as presented below.

To get a decent idea of the typical California, here is a thread dedicated to one.

Taylor Lorenz

Bill Maher keeps on insisting that the nation follows California, till Florida upstaged them, leading to a lot of butthurt by Californian moonbats and libtards and libcucks against DeSantis and Florida Man and Florida Woman. California also lost Joe Rogan, who decided to move to the Californian colony of Austin in Texas while Benny Boy from the Daily Wire ran to Tennessee.

Since there is so much news dedicated to California like the Warriors winning the NBA finals and the LA Rams winning the Super bowl, it leads to super smugness summed up in the meme below while the rest of the state resembles a third world shithole more than some 1st world West European nation that the liberals of California are obsessed with.

1644807705203.jpg

Might as well make a mega thread about the state, since everyone knows the drill over California doing whatever California does. And then tries to export it across the nation and shuns those that don't accept its "gift" of pozz.

Even recall candidate Larry Elder doesn't sugarcoat how much retarded the state still is.

Here are some threads that deal with California's dedication to wanting to dominate the other 49 states with their cancer, running away from their problems, destroying the 2A, spreading shitlib faggotry and actual faggotry.

And many more stories coming out of the Golden State for this work in progress.

The Golden State founded by racist white devils looking for gold, is in the current era filled with folks that believe the darkies deserve reparations for being slaves in California, never mind that California joined the Union as a free state during the Civil War. It is the home of Big Tech because of silicon valley but also started the sanctuary state meme for illegals despite trying to stop giving gibs to illegals in the 1990s but some kike judge overturned the will of the Californian. The same situation would repeat for faggots being able to marry, as it was banned by a proposition and the state government of California with butthurt faggots in San Francisco sued to get it overturned by the State Supreme Court of California. Apparently niggers don't like faggots but faggots also still simp for niggers.

Recently many slant eyes, whose younger folks are very pozzed, are being attacked by niggers and the response is to blame "white supremacy" since their own politicians are race traitors who obey the white liberal once they get elected, as the recent proposition to destroy the Californian Civil Rights Act showed but failed.

Joggers being raycist against Asians megathread

Californians through ballot propositions hate tax increases but will always vote in Democrats who increase it anyways while screwing up everything else as well. The state is a giant liberal bubble that can sadly skew the reality of many people. Its like being an alternative version of the United States where Fox News never existed.

California up until the 1990s was seen as the best state to emulate and live in, and now is just coasting off that reputation while many of its residents slowly realize that the California they knew is gone. California is now currently home to many American hating, freedom hating, gun hating, nigger loving and faggotry obsessed subhumans thanks to cities like San Francisco and Los Angeles and Berkeley and Sacramento.

California used to be a strong Republican state till Ronnie Raygun decided to give amnesty to many illegal wetbacks, as a result California has never gone back. But has gotten overall more blue, which leads to strong butthurt from leftoids whenever a Republican wins the electoral college but not the popular vote in federal elections.

There has been exodus from the Golden State which led to California losing 1 seat so far in the electoral college, but time will tell if it lowers those popular votes for the Democrats in general elections as well. But the conservative exodus might have strengthened other red states as well to some extent.

California has given America the following politicians, that always make the headlines and some are also shot callers within the party, since the California representation is the largest within the Democratic Party. The only thing more liberal than California is Twitter, however Californian politicians believe their constituency is Twitter and we are seeing the disaster by the Californian Democrats at the federal level because of this.

Lets go through a brief summary of many top politicians from California.

Like the current installed vice president of the United States hired because Biden wanted a black woman and just a black woman to be his running mate.

And here is the farms megathread dedicated to a woman that succeeded in politics and broke many glass ceilings thanks to the power of the casting couch.

Kamala Harris Megathread

There is the gun hating former California AG known as Xavier Becerra, who succeeded Kamala Harris when she became a senator, who became new secretary for HHS.

HHS_Xavier_Becerra.jpg

There is the current governor of California known as Gavin Newsom, who has become emboldened after the failed recall and why California deserves its fate of misery. Also is the nephew of a certain someone about to be mentioned down below at the end.

Gavin_Newsom_by_Gage_Skidmore.jpg

Here is the smug fuckface named Eric Swalwell, who has no problems farting in public or sleeping with Chinese Commie honeypots or wanting to nuke American gun owners who own the AR-15 and also shows violent footage of mass shootings to his young daughter as well for social media asspats.

Eric_Swalwell_114th_official_photo.jpg

There is this pajeet progtard grifter known as Ro Khanna, who pretends to be for the "working man" when he isn't. How could he be since he was elected in one of the most richest zip codes in America where Silicon Valley is based.

Ro_Khanna,_official_portrait,_115th_Congress.jpg

There is this gun hating chink known as Ted Lieu, who loves to open his big mouth every now and then. And proof of why repealing the Chinese Exclusion Act was a mistake.

Congressman_Ted_W._Lieu_Official_Photo.jpg

Here we got Adam Schiff, a lying kike who has a huge case of TDS and one of the main co founders and writers for the show trial and heavily promoted reality TV show known as the January 6th committee.

Adam_Schiff_official_portrait.jpg

Here is Maxine Waters, the black female version of Al Sharpton and who has even encouraged violence on camera against political opponents before, during and after the 2020 BLM Summer of Love.

Congresswoman_Waters_official_photo.jpg

And then we got Nancy Pelosi, who well is proof over why the Bible is against female political leaders to keep it simple, I mean her rap sheet is the longest and more deserving of a thread than Kamala Harris.

Official_photo_of_Speaker_Nancy_Pelosi_in_2019.jpg

To end on a final note, there is this useless faggot, whose name we don't even need to be concerned with, bunks with ugly fucks like Frank Luntz (just google it and then get eye bleach).

Think I already said this in a different thread, but I’m at RSA decently often and I was there a few weeks ago. There was nothing more San Fran / CA than when we were walking through Chinatown to go grab dinner and walked by some dude with a Mohawk chewing on a circuit board with a random Home Depot 14/2 wire screwed to it and yelling at the street in between chews. Also he had what looked like a streetlight pole sitting next to him, maybe he could use it as a mace? I dunno.

Now when will SCOTUS strike down the AWB and magazine bans so Gavin Newsom can commit ritual suicide on live television to reclaim his honor.
@MrJokerRager I hope he doesn't use a gun. Would sure suck if he contributed to gun violence statistics.
It says something about the GOP that they cannot find a winning message in a state with a government as disastrous as California's. They can't even seem to run against plague rats in L.A.
You'd think that, but no. The people in the cities like LA and San Fran really are that fucking deluded to think plague rats are better than Republicans. Its insane.

I'm disappointed we got to page four without bringing up this glorious chart, which shows that not only do all of california's neighbours hate it the most, but so do most of it's neighbour's neighbours and it's neighbour's neighbour's neighbours.

California butthurt at Texas lol.

While Texas doesn't care and hates on the Okies.

It reminds me of this video where Californian voters are scared of voting R at minimum because they don't want to be like Texas.

The worst part a lot of the West Coast has is the lobbying influence a lot of California groups have.

Combine that with water theft and taking electricity, and a lot of West Coasters HATE SoCal because they view them as freeloaders.

Then groups like The Sierra Club and other lobbyist groups fuck up the economy and ecological handling of Oregon, WA, and Nevada.

California expects the states around them to do what California wants, and it pisses everyone off.

I can still remember when in WA state they were fining people $400 for having their porch light on due to 'energy saving' because CA was having brownouts, but when you turned on the TV the news programs showed LA and SF all lit the fuck up by all the neon in the goddamn world.
Hey, Nevada hates Imperial California for demanding tribute too

As someone who was born and raised in Las Vegas this is completely true.

If California ever gets a lynching for the first time in a long time, odds are that most of the perps will be very brownish.

Dysgenic Supremacy (Archive)

California State Senator Steven Bradford (Compton, Watts, Inglewood, and the dead rapper district of Long Beach) is the blackiest black in the state’s Democrat machine.

Bradford so black, every time he visits Long Beach port, the vessels get sickle cell.

As a legislator, he’s single-mindedly focused on California’s dwindling black minority (roughly 5.5% of the population). For example, Bradford’s the prime mover-and-shaker behind California’s slavery reparations scheme, and he’s the guy who fought to make sure no money goes to Spanish-speaking blacks ’cuz they wuzn’t Dixie slaves (them dollas be fo’ Kunta Kintes, not puta pinches).

In February, Bradford set his sights on California’s K–12 schools. Currently, state law mandates that all violent threats and assaults by students be reported to the police. Admins who fail to report threats and assaults face a fine of up to $1,000. So Bradford created S1273, which removes the mandate.

Why? Simple. When incident reporting is nondiscretionary, black kids are reported in disproportionate numbers. Make reporting discretionary, and admins will be monitored to ensure that they’re not reporting “too many” black kids. SB1273 is a way to cow schools into keeping mum when black kids act up. Bradford’s flack Nital Patel admitted as much to me last week, explaining that the point of the bill is to give administrators discretion so that “black” and “POC” students aren’t “disproportionately referred to law enforcement.”

SB1273 had its final vote in the Senate on May 26, two days after Uvalde.

Bad timing for a bill that lets schools cover up violent threats.

The bill still passed (Sacramento is one-party rule), but nine of 29 Democrats refused to vote yes. That’s almost a third. Since the vote, I haven’t been able to get a single Dem senator to defend the bill on the record.

When I asked Senator John Laird (CA Senate District 17—57% white, 2.3% black) to defend 1273, which he voted for, his policy director Samantha Samuelsen told me that her boss would have no comment, and I should ask Senator Sydney Kamlager instead; she’s the one who should defend the bill.

Kamlager’s the only black woman in the Senate. So basically, Laird’s office responded to my inquiry with, “Go talk to the black chick. Let her defend the damn thing” (in fact, I’d already reached out to Kamlager, who refused comment. As she’s currently running for Congress, that’s no surprise).

“Racial supremacy is bad enough; dysgenic racial supremacy is even worse, because it harms the in-group as much as the out-group.”
I also reached out to L.A.’s new school superintendent Alberto Carvalho (Portuguese, raised in Florida). Carvalho, who presides over a distrito that’s 74% Hispanic and only 7% black, instituted several commonsense school safety measures after Uvalde, including the much-hated (by leftists) “single point of entry” thing, as well as “increased collaboration and information sharing” with law enforcement.

So where does he stand on SB1273?

Carvalho’s comms director Shannon Haber would only tell me that “Los Angeles Unified has not taken a position on this Bill.”

It’s hard to find anyone but Bradford who’ll speak for SB1273. And as his bill noire heads to the Assembly, let’s look at another educational “advancement” he initiated.

In June 2020, as BLM rioters sacked parts of L.A., Bradford shepherded legislation mandating “ethnic studies” classes for all Cal State students in order to make California education less “whitewashed.” Inspired by Bradford’s efforts, the LAUSD pledged to fund a black-centered educational program—the “Black Student Achievement Plan” (BSAP)—for all L.A. schools, paid for by defunding the district’s police department (much to the chagrin of white, Asian, and Hispanic parents).

The BSAP is due to go into effect this fall, meaning that over the summer LAUSD needs to figure out what’s gonna be in it. I could joke that the entire program will consist of nothing more than repeatedly saying to black students, “You’re geniuses,” but only a lazy comic would try to pass off reality as a joke.

Because yeah, that’s the actual program.

Recently released fliers for BSAP planning seminars (June 13–17) reveal that the curriculum, titled “Black Excellence Undenied,” will be based on the work of Dr. Gholdy Muhammad, College of Education & Human Development, GSU.

Gholdy’s all the rage in K–12 right now. Her course materials are being integrated into schools across the country, so let’s take a moment to get to know her unique approach to public ed.

Her central thesis is that “skill-based” education (math, science, reading, writing) is “white supremacy.” Gholdy represents end-stage CRT. She doesn’t indulge in pleasantries about trying to help black children learn basic skills. Her take is, black kids are born geniuses and don’t need to be taught skills. They’re geniuses as-is.

Whereas other CRT fanatics say, “This-or-that type of teaching is racist,” Gholdy says, “Teaching itself is racist.”

Her model is based on her belief that black children are “enough and genius,” and the job of a teacher is simply to tell black kids “you are enough” and “you are genius.” Black children should find “entitlement in their excellence”; therefore, their teachers must “make it impossible for them to fail.”

Gholdy forbids any measurement of learning. No “tests or assessments.” Black genius simply exists; to seek to gauge it, to ask a black person to prove it, is an act of racism. Black genius is stifled when it’s denied, but it’s also stifled when it’s asked to show itself. Like the famous cat in the box, trying to observe it, kills it.

Behold, Afrodinger’s Cat.

And if you think Gholdy can’t get more ghastly, check this out: Her ultimate aim is to end “skill-based” education for every kid regardless of race…replacing it with “black-based” education for all. Here too, she one-ups other Afrocentric educators, who generally advocate Afrocentric education for black kids solely.

Gholdy wants it to be the standard model for every child of every race and ethnicity:

Why should we use Blackness as THE model for getting it right with all kids? I say, why not? Blackness is beautiful. Blackness is excellent. No one has had our history of joy, oppression and thriving. We are a loving people with genius minds and beautiful hearts. Black historical excellence gives us all a model for teaching and learning that will benefit us all. Not just some or a few. Why SHOULDN’T Blackness and Black education be a model for all today? Why would we keep all that is excellent for ourselves. We are not a selfish people.

Gholdy wants nonblack kids taught black superiority K–12, so that these nonblack kids grow up taking such superiority as a given (thus there’s no need to ever see proof of it), while no longer learning basic educational skills themselves, thus leveling the field and erasing, finally, black/nonblack achievement gaps.

Gholdy’s lesson plans include “sing a freedom song” (sing a song that symbolizes “black liberation”), “talk about your name” (why your name is unique), and “tell me why you’re brilliant” (explain how “black genius” lives inside you).

This is about to become the standard in the second-largest school district in America. We’ll see how that works out. L.A.’s Mexican parents rebelled when their kids were forced into English-only classes; they saw that as an insult to their “noble” Hispanic heritage. Just wait till the Mexican kids are forced into “blackness-only” classes. That’ll put the muy in the malo.

Mexican parents aren’t going to be terribly happy when they see their children’s homework: “List ten reasons blacks are more brilliant than you.” Some white and Asian parents might not be happy either, but they’ll suffer in silence. Mexican parents will be vocal, and L.A. politicians will listen.

This is kamikaze stuff. Senator Bradford forcing through a reckless bill (that even his colleagues won’t publicly defend) that risks the safety of every kid in California just because he doesn’t want the most irredeemably violent black students to face disciplinary action, and Gholdy Muhammad seeking to rob all L.A. children of skill-based education in order to make it “impossible” for the dumbest black kids to fail.

This is blacks being a liability to those around them. It’s a flawed business model in general, as it engenders hostility from every other demographic. But in a place like L.A., where blacks are on the way out, it’s just damn suicidal, a way for a shrinking and increasingly isolated minority to become ever more unpopular.

If you’re going to mandate the teaching of your race’s superiority, you better be fully in control, either numerically (when the Nazis made Aryan superiority the model for all German schools, Jews, at only 0.75% of the population, had no choice but to take it) or via force and technological superiority (i.e., whites during apartheid South Africa’s prime).

Blacks in L.A., being neither numerous nor essential, are simply not in a position to make black supremacy the standard educational model.

The strategy that Gholdy and Bradford advocate, which can be defined as “save every black,” is the absolute worst path for a shrinking (in California) and stagnating (nationally) American-born black population. They’ll never have the quantity (Mexicans displace them daily), so whittling for quality is the only intelligent way forward. Gholdy and Bradford advocate the opposite strategy: Don’t expel the most violent black kids; they’re “our babies,” so let them run wild, terrorizing high-achieving black students (L.A. schools are heavily segregated, so black students tend to be the main victims of black miscreants). Don’t fail the lowest-IQ black students; rather, reengineer the standards so that the dumbest become the geniuses, even if it means black students with genuine academic potential are robbed of a viable education.

Gholdy believes that by replacing (what she sees as) white supremacy education with black supremacy education, she can replicate in blacks historical white successes. Black supremacists have long excused their actions by saying, “We’re just doing the black version of what white folks do” (i.e., Farrakhan’s defense of Malcolm X’s murder: “Whites kill their Benedict Arnolds, so we do the same”). Gholdy and Bradford advocate “save every black” because they think they’re mirroring historical white supremacy. But in fact, even when white supremacy was the dominant Western worldview, intraracial “whittling” was still seen as important. Academic standards weren’t lowered for the dullards and lawbreaking wasn’t tolerated for the delinquents. Never forget that one-third of all American lynchings from 1883 to 1941 were white-on-white; a majority of all frontier lynchings were white-on-white. White Steven Bradfords didn’t coddle white incorrigibles if those incorrigibles were harming other whites.

Indeed, it was white openness to “whittling” that ushered in 20th-century eugenics, which promised to cull the dullards permanently (forget the pro-life fabrications; Margaret Sanger’s “extirpate human weeds” remarks referred not to blacks or Jews but to intraracial hygiene).

These are details blacks miss when they try to ape white supremacy.

Racial supremacy is bad enough; dysgenic racial supremacy is even worse, because it harms the in-group as much as the out-group.

Black supremacists may think their skin alone makes them “enough and genius,” but as blacks increasingly become a liability to those around them, their neighbors are increasingly likely to declare that they’ve had enough of those “geniuses.”

It's been one of the worst La Nina years in recorded history, which means California got fuck all rain this winter/spring,
You know I had wondered if that came into play at all. I remember our droughts with El Nino, wildfires bad enough you could not see the sun at noon miles away, and most of all I remember the abject lack of empathy Californians displayed by being the only people mocking us. Unlike them it was mostly an annoyance because disagreeable as they can be at times my local government is not delusional. This schadenfreude is better than sex. Stay thirsty my friends! I hope Mexican fireworks light you up like a tinderbox this July 4th!

So glad my family and I left when we did. By the time I left, it felt like everyone my age there was absolutely pozzed by identity politics and the cost of living was way too high.

Last I heard there are homeless camps all over the rolling fields by the neighborhood I grew up in. Makes me sad.

I feel like this points out a "Geocultural" phenomenon I've noticed. Think about history and how people wound up where they did. If you were content on the east coast, or moving south, why risk life and limb moving west? Hell enough people were content to stop along the way they literally farmed midwestern soil to depletion and caused the dust bowl. The Mormons were chased out of the east, hated nonwhites to a homicidal degree, and were still down with polygamy. Those crazy bastards were content to stop in Utah.

Their roots were so discontent with the way things were and had such a promising view of what could/should be that they froze crossing the mountains and died more foolish ways than I could possibly list here. Even with that destiny manifest and unilateral control, their children's children still find no contentment. The truth really is that simple and self-evident: it will never be enough for these people. So why bother? Romney saying it out loud cost him the election along with his binders full of women trying to play their game. He was write though. 47% or so would never vote for him and will never vote republican. You're fighting over the center 6-10%.

Gascon is still up to his old tricks though time will tell if LA wants more of Gascon or will get rid of him.

Got to keep in mind that Chiesa pissed off the Asians hard along with a couple of whites and blacks, to give him the boot while a shitload of rich woke or hippy white liberals wanted him to stay.

Gascon from my understanding is basically pissing off the Mexicans hard in his attempt to pander to niggers, though there are plenty of smug retards out there as well.

Los Angeles DA George Gascon defends record on crime: 'I know how to keep communities safe' (Archive)

Progressive Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascon defended his record against critics who have accused him of being soft on crime as violence in the city continues to surge.

"Yeah, in some areas it is," Gascon told KTLA-TV on Saturday when asked if he believes Los Angeles is safer because of policies he has implemented. "I think it’s important to start out by saying that I was a police officer for many years before I was the district attorney. I know how to keep communities safe."

Gascon explained that he believes his Community Violence Intervention Unit has been successfully locating repeat offenders and making "good arrests" and bringing in "a lot of guns" off the streets. Gascon also said that his office has increased the number of prosecutions of sexual assaults which is an area he says his administration has done "really well" on.

Gascon also said that his team has improved the "filing system" to make the process more efficient and that he has been successfully pushing for more "integrity" in the legal system.

Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascon on Tuesday defended his policies amid criticism following reports that the deceased suspect accused of killing two El Monte, California, police officers, was out on probation.

When pressed by KTLA anchor Lynette Romero on critics who say that Gascon’s policies have made crime in the city worse, Gascon pointed to the coronavirus pandemic.

"We’re coming out of the pandemic that has had a tremendous impact not only on L.A. County but throughout the nation," Gascon said. "The reality is that crime is up around the nation, in fact some of our neighboring counties per capita are having higher levels of violence than we are."

Gascon added there is "no question" the pandemic has impacted violent crime and homelessness.

Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascon

"There are a lot of things that are not working," Gascon said. "I see them. I’m frustrated as much as the next person. It is a national problem. It’s not just an L.A. problem. But L.A. in many ways is actually beginning to come out of it."

Gascon explained that he walks through the streets "every day" and is "frustrated" by what he sees.

Gascon was asked by KTLA anchor Mark Meester about the families of two slain police officers in El Monte, California who have blamed the district attorney’s policies for the deaths.

"The reality is there was no predictability that he was going to get involved in violence," Gason said about the gang member that killed the officers who was on probation for a weapons charge after he received a lenient sentence through a plea deal. A Gascon policy allowed Flores to plead no contest to being a felon in possession of a firearm and receive a light sentence despite having a strike on his criminal record already.

"We have to understand that we’re never going to get it 100% right," Gascon said.

Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascon has come under fire for some of his prosecution reform policies from law enforcement officials and other prosecutors.

Gascon is facing a recall effort in response to rising crime in the city that organizers say has reached the necessary amount of signatures to be on the ballot in November.

"This is a Republican power grab," Gascon said when asked about the recall. "If this is about crime, there are many jurisdictions near us where crime is higher that are Republican controlled. You don’t see Republicans trying to recall Republican district attorneys."

Violent crime in Los Angeles has increased 8.6% compared to the same time last year to go along with a 7.3% spike in homicides compared to last year.

this is cute but the people making trouble are not the descendents of hardy discontented pioneers

they're just people who were so mad at their dad they took his money to live in SF or LA

It's a shame the state with the best weather and the most beautiful scenery is wasted on the absolute mouth breathing retards and pedophiles living there.
California from 1960 till about.... 1985/1986 was probably the BEST state in the USA tk be in.

Then it just went to absolute shit.

That said it deserves everything it gets

I would say until the early 90s it was still good here, then it started going to shit, and got much, much worse after Obama took office.

Native Texan here. Gotta take exception to the map. We hate California more than anywhere else despite not having a border with them. There's even a saying showing up here and there on billboards and bumper stickers.... "Don't California my Texas", referring to all the Cali rodents fleeing the ship they sunk with their faggy political views.

Oklahoma is the traditional enemy the way small towns have nearby rival towns. But their politics are close enough and the culture war hot enough that they look a lot like allies here lately.

If this was last week I could agree with him however California is going to be assaulted by several fronts with litigation issues. However in this case the video did not age well.

As stated before with the Supreme court upholding our 2nd/4th Amendment rights

As stated before with the impending Supreme Court ruling over California and their right to demand other business in states to follow their rules or not do business in there.

California is taking a direct page from China using population as a weapon.

1 out of 8 people live in California.

People running away from California, the majority are a Cancer as they take their progressive ideology to other states. They are GENERATION FAIL.

Already proven those who leave are low IQ people who have less money than those moving into California who have the degrees and the money to live there.

So yea the rest of the states... you are getting the Shit people from California.

Man again I look at housing in Idaho and god damn I can get almost the same price of housing with the same price of land in many parts of California. I wanted a vacation home but I sure as hell not going to buy one at those prices being offered.

That is again the problem coming from the fucking progressives in GENERATION FAIL. They drive up the prices EVERYWHERE THEY GO. IHMO pricing is 10%+ to 20%+ too high, even if you include inflation it is still too damned high.

Those who stay are either to woke that they drank the soy or staying because they entrenched themselves in to take on whatever is coming... these are the people that endure.

Washington just passed a magazine ban that takes effect next month and pro-gun orgs plan to immediately sue the state in federal court. Both Washington and California are in the 9th Circuit, and under the new one step test mandated by the Supreme Court (which explicitly calls out the 9th’s BS two step test), the 9th circuit court should be forced to rule it unconstitutional. All mag bans in the 9th circuit would then be repealed.

They can be in the unlimited magazine club too!
By the way, interstate compacts, which their abortion club is, are unconstitutional
Compacts themselves are not unconstitutional but they have to be ratified by the federal government. My state, for example, is part of the Great Lakes Compact which governs the usage of the waters in the Great Lakes--

To be on-topic, it's really annoying to hear national news go on as if the entire country is going to suffer water shortages due to drought when you live in the middle of the largest source of fresh water in the world and it's been raining so much your property has grown its own pond. But because the national news treats the entire country like it's California, you have to calm your Mother down and tell her what the news is saying only applies to California...

Millions in California to Get up to $1,050 in ‘Inflation Relief’ (Archive)

(Bloomberg) -- California Governor Gavin Newsom announced late Sunday night that he had reached an agreement with state legislators on a $17 billion “inflation relief package.”

“Millions of Californians will be receiving up to $1,050 as part of a NEW middle class tax rebate. That’s more money in your pocket to help you fill your gas tank and put food on the table,” he tweeted.

Here's how it breaks down, according to Bloomberg Law. Individuals making as much as $75,000 a year, or joint filers making up to $150,000, would get $350 each plus $350 for one dependent for a maximum of $1,050. Those with income up to $125,000, or $250,000 filing jointly, would get $250 each plus another $250 for one dependent for a maximum of $750. Those earning more than $250,000, or $500,000 filing jointly, would get $200 each plus $200 for one dependent for maximum of $600.

The budget agreement also includes a $47 billion multi-year infrastructure and transportation package, and a pause in state diesel sales tax for a year starting Oct. 1. It does not include halting the gasoline tax most pay at the pump, which is expected to increase July 1.

In the wake of the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade, $200 million has been earmarked for reproductive health care for those seeking sanctuary in California where abortion is legal. Newsom has also signed into law a bill protecting patients and providers in California against attempts by other states to extend their anti-abortion laws into the Golden State.

State Senate President Pro Tempore Toni Atkins tweeted her support for the package: “This budget agreement will bring relief to taxpayers in a significant and equitable way, putting our state’s wealth to work for Californians.”

California Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon also tweeted, writing: “In our #CABudget we’re focusing our funds to help Californians most in need. We’re prioritizing climate action, infrastructure investments, reproductive health, and much more.”
