Keem not calling Phil during Phil's available times and more importantly, not arranging a time to call, is probably the only mistake. If given a reasonable window, most employers will say "expect a call at this time and have this much time allotted for it." Everything else was on Phil being a paranoid dumbass.

Despite being chronologically about the same age, even someone like Chantal seems physically younger than DSP. You forget though, phil is self employed. he makes his own hours. you got 50k on the table, why the hell would you wait around.

you answer the call. i am self employed, i work and have my business phone with me, if i am called i answer.

Let me preface this with I think Keem has done abhorent things in the past. Such as calling that elderly gentleman a pedophile.
It is possible other moving pieces only had the possible times cited by him.
Let's say company A is trying to bring in a new product into a store. Company B can ship it. However, Company A does not know how fast to produce the product.
Company A and Company B have to arrange a meeting with the shipper to arrange this deal.
No, Keem calling him during times cited by Phil sounds desperate AF and it's a loss.

That being said his story smells.
1. Why not divulge the details of this deal as it happened? You could have gotten a chance to come out on top with 100% transparency.

On laws- I looked up the laws and neither party could record without permission. that easily solved though by both asking to record. I would ABSOLUTELY do that before taking the call.
