Many great thinkers have worried that a democratic republic has a shelf life of about 200 years. See eg deTocqueville. I also think a great deal about Heinlein's Starship Troopers and how it foretold the failure of Democracy.

I do think once a society reaches a level where different factions just do not want the same things, it cannot work. Also, the Dems have been engaging in a long haul ballot stuffing scheme by way of the great replacement, election fraud shenanigans, embracing drag queen story hour and trans kids and all that, such that basic moral convictions should override the social contract where we all agree to accept election results peacefully. If half the country decided that child molestation and kiddie porn are beneficial societal goods, should the rest just say, oh well, shucks, we lost the election, better luck next time. No.

It's all for naught bc I don't see a Franco or Pinochet or Putin or other strongman coming to save us. Our military tradition is too steeped in rah rah bullshit about American exceptionalim, our democracy etc. This flaw WILL prove as devasting as the German military's aversion to coups preventing it from removing Hitler and his entourage once he put Germany in a place where absolute defeat was a mathematical certainty. Here is the thing that amazes me. We live in 2022. The amount of contraceptives on the market now compared to even 20 years ago is staggering. It isn't just little pills that women have to take daily and can forget and condoms. There are several types of implants, several spermicide films and foams and if you are still worried after that, a pill you can take to ensure that any eggs in your system can't attach to your womb temporarily.

I think that if there is going to be some form of authoritarian takeover of the government it'll either happen when and if things take a massive shit economically over the next few years, or it won't be within our lifetimes. The progressive left seems to be on the downswing at the moment, though I admit it could just be a hiccough, and put bluntly the extreme right is full of some mixture of unironic faggots, pedophiles, closeted trannies along with other assorted degenerates, feds and fed assets, autists, as well as grifters and other assorted unsavory characters that are only hitching their wagon to them for clout/money/whatever.
