I ended up giving the game a go; I've actually beat it on my first attempt as Ame, and then haven't been able to beat it again since, don't know what the difference was. Again, pretty fantastic in terms of all the effort put into it, I'm just not really big enough into games like Vampire Survivors to put a lot of time in. Something about them just feels weirdly repetitive, and the difficulty scaling of "there is literally no point in upgrading anything other than AoE/aura-type since the game's just gonna completely surround you with 200 beefy boys" doesn't really feel right. Someone else already mentioned that having a single song play for half an hour isn't great either, and yeah, that could use some work. Still seems great for people who like VS, I really hope Cover can come up with some way to reward the guy.

I'm guessing you mean the Elite Mob wave right before Smol Ame. Theirs two ways to go about dealing with it, either yes DPS them down or you can actually slip through them and avoid them until they despawn. It's an optional wave like the Deadbeat shield encirclement. It's mostly recommended to DPS them down in the context of Endless mode because you can farm a metric shitton of exp and and anvils off them, in Stage mode slipping by them is viable.

To be fair, in case of the stuff @Scuttle's dropped, it's things that probably point towards their stance, but are generally neutral, whether pretty generic matters (how to get young people to vote), or things that are actually unrelated to political discourse (cute retard doesn't know Biden's name, talking about food with politicians, etc.)

Maybe don't think that jpgs that exist primarily to cash in on myriad subculture fetishes are worthy of a level of respect and personification that you accidentally conflate characterizing archetypes with reality. A lot of the weapon options in VS upgrade to significant AOE or auras of some sort since it's always going to come down to filling as much of the screen as you can and primary means of surviving to the end is either maximum damage or so much knockback you're unapproachable. The most recent updates even added in further modifiers via the Arcana system that adds several means for weapons that aren't major AOE staples to have more screen presence/damage potential by adding either bounce or secondary effects to what would otherwise be directional pierce weapons that fly straight off screen. I've not sunk a lot of time into Holocure and only played Calli so far, but my attempt to maximize her Scythe hit area and attack speed doesn't hold up much in the long run due to overcommittal on a single weapon and not diving too much into other items, so it's definitely a lack in more sustained area damage output, or I need to find/unlock something that gives more knockback to create openings, since it seems the key to long term victory in Holocure is also finding out how to hit the most amount of the screen as fast as possible without breaks.

They're definitely repetitive, not even weirdly so. The enemy spawn timers are basically set in stone to always play out the same, the only variance is where exactly they spawn in from the edges and what the roulette give you on equipment through levels. If you don't get dopamine from just 'numbers go up' game, they're not going to feel that good to play more than just an occasional distraction when you want to kill 20m.

In this instance, the comparisons to the JP side of things does nothing for me. Why? Because the Japs aren't being inundated 24/7 by this nonsense.
