Part One: What The Fuck?​

Without question, the most evil thing I have ever personally encountered online, is Million Pity. Stumbling upon it one night, my skin crawled, and some deeply primal part within me recoiled in ghastly fear at what I was seeing. Behold, the very depths of human cruelty. I'll warn you now, this thread deals with extremely distressing topics of animal abuse; if you are easily upset, please turn away.

What I am talking about is the phenomenon that exists on YouTube and elsewhere, of videos that began being created and posted in the 2010s – by some accounts the summer of 2016, by other accounts, years earlier – depicting the torture and abuse of (primarily) baby monkeys. Million Pity is as close as there is to an official name for it, based on an oft-repeated phrase that people in this ‘community’ throw around. In this thread, I will attempt to explain what is behind it; and no, it isn’t just angry third worlders, like a lot of people seem to think. It’s a lot worse than that, and a lot more complicated.

Nowadays this content is thankfully a bit harder to find on YouTube than it was some years ago, in say 2017, but it’s still there and in large numbers. Threads about hating baby monkeys also frequently pop up on the 4chan animal board, /an/, too. There is a good chance you too, my dear reader, have encountered this in your travels. The question on most everyone’s minds, is what the fuck is going on here?

To answer this, let me rewind, and properly explain what this is, and why it is so horrifying. Then we shall get into the who and why of it all.
For me, I first noticed it one night in 2019, or 2018. I was watching animal videos on YouTube; top 10 Orangutan funny moments, Scariest bug REAL, lizard with face of man found in brazil... that kind of thing. You know how it is. As it turns out, this was a bad idea. Somewhere along the way I encountered a video with a curious title in broken English and a morbid thumbnail of a young rhesus macaque in clear distress. I did not click on it, but as I continued to watch other videos, such thumbnails popped up on the sidebar with increasing frequency. What the fuck? I asked myself, and eventually I suppose I must’ve clicked on one.

Beyond what I was seeing in the video – I think it was a small monkey trapped in something akin to a stockade – which was freakish enough on its own, what really got to me was the comments.

Absolutely unhinged, frothing, and gleeful hate for monkeys, being expressed in the most batshit of terms. Seeing hundreds and hundreds of comments like this really freaked me out in a way I had never experienced before. Clearly, there was something up here. I had stumbled upon a ghoulish crevice of the internet, wherein some grim and malformed culture of grinning freaks derived sadistic ecstasies from the brutalization of innocent creatures. The idea that there was just a community of hundreds or thousands of people lurking out there in the dark, who got their kicks from something like this creeped me the fuck out. Just what the hell is truly out there?

The thing that really got to me was the similarity of some of the comments; it wasn’t just a disparate group of monkey haters, no, they all tended to use similar vocabulary – a jargon, if you will – and from the way they interacted with one another, and discussed other monkey videos they’d seen, it was clear that this was something far more socially developed than several unconnected people all commenting on the same video. This was a subculture of zoosadists rearing their head out in the open. I was reminded of seeing a crocodile submerged in a river; only its snout is visible, yet my nerves are set alight in fear, because I know something terribly dangerous lurks right under the surface.

Part Two: Paranormal Investigation​

My interest in learning more about these strange, and terrible people was immediately piqued. But I found few answers amidst the rubble of internet hypothesizations. Answers do exist, however, and the place I found them happened to be the same place where you can learn how to summon a succubus, badly discuss Advaita philosophy, or ask God himself what his favourite anime is.

After a lot of searching, and lots of dead ends, I finally found the answers I’m looking for, and proof that the whole million pity shit was the work of a network of a group of dedicated zoosadists.
There have been threads on the farms about this, none ever scratched the surface; in fact, the very existence of a monkey torture community was seen as being unlikely. Unfortunately, such a community exists. I shall now attempt to detail the workings of the monkey hate community over the past few years, from 2019 through to today.

Our story begins here, with this thread (archive) on /x/, which details (as far as I can find) the first concrete evidence of the inner workings of the monkey hate community, via screenshots of a discord server named ‘boysclub’.

This is not to say that this is the start of the monkey hate community; I’ve seen posts that imply it existed for many years before this, but I’ve not been able to find anything solid yet. As best as I can gather, the community may have sprung up around 2014/15 or thereabouts, centred around massive YouTube playlists; when the playlists and videos started getting nuked, the community moved to “MT Forums” (Million Tears, presumably) in 2016 through to 2018. I have heard conflicting info on whether this was the first consolidated gathering of the community or not.

Anyway, flash forward back to 2019, and boysclub. I’ve attached the screenshots provided by anon; all the censorship of images and names was done by the original poster, so unfortunately no names of the people involved came out of it, but at least these screenshots do not contain anything too graphic.

This discord was discovered in 2019 unfortunately, which means that it’s almost certainly dead now. One thing that is known however, is the fact that the leader of this discord was someone named Poyo Zo, but I’ve not been able to find out much more than that. I’m not any good at doxing unfortunately, so if any investigative minded kiwis fancy digging into a zoosadist, that’s a name to start with.

The discords were only the start of it, however. From this point it gets a lot worse, and a lot more sophisticated. I’m not sure what the community was up to in 2020, but in 2021 they came to widespread prominence. As detailed in these articles (all archive links), there was a major exposé regarding the monkey torture community in that year.

Here’s the skinny: In May of 2021 (probably a lot earlier, too) people used YouTube videos, like the ones described above, to recruit members into private telegram groups (essentially the same modus operandi as Poyo Zo and boysclub).

In these groups, not only were monkey gore videos shared between users, but the members decided to take it one step further and start producing their own videos of monkey mutilation. A scheme to ‘adopt’ monkeys was devised, wherein the group members would pitch in money to pay people in Indonesia (referred to as VO’s, standing for Video Operator) to perform specific acts of torture on innocent monkeys that the group members requested. Some of the richest members of the groups had their own personal monkey, others would share a monkey, in the single most fucked up kind of carpooling I have ever heard of. The members of the group were predominantly from America, but some were from the UK. Below is a list describing the contents of some of the videos, provided by Lady Free Thinker:

After the publication of these articles, Telegram and other forum hosts that this group was hosted on shut down the groups, and... that’s it? No one was arrested that I can find, no one faced any kind of justice, despite their crimes being brought to light. It came so close to this entire thing being brought mainstream attention, like the Furry Zoosadists from a few years ago, but instead, it was forgotten after Telegram shut down the group. But this doesn’t mean that the problem went away. The distributors retained their contacts to the clients out west, and the monkey torture porn was still produced unabated.

This brings us to January of 2022, and to the website 0chan.life. From here on out, assume all links to potentially contain NSFL material. This obscure forum became the new hub for monkey hate, and one particular person rose to prominence: Mr. Ape (dox below)

In this thread (a (other archive) Mr. Ape essentially tries to become the million pity main character. He and the users of 0chan created a new telegram link for the collation and creation of monkey torture, and began recruiting new members from 4chan and elsewhere – as mentioned earlier, boards like /an/ and /gif/ became prime hotbeds of ape hate radicalization; the Darul Uloom Haqqania of animal abuse.

Under Mr. Ape, he and his recruits (they unironically called themselves his ‘chimps’) contacted one of the members of the telegram channels from the 2021, who would then contact various Indonesian zoosadists-for-hire, and produce snuff films featuring upwards of twelve monkeys who were killed for the pleasure of the 0chan creeps. A big part of why Mr. Ape’s group was a step up from what came before, is that besides commissioning many, many videos of animal torture, they would freely distribute them on 0chan, to attract more and more monkeyfucking freaks.

A big thing I have noticed about million pity posters, is the fact that in addition to being zoosadists, they are the single most insufferable group I have ever encountered. They have all the delusional narcissism and undeserved victim complexes of furries, calling people who oppose them ‘Karens’, as if the idea that people shouldn’t torture monkeys is something only the hysterical and self-righteous would think; they seem to believe they someone have a moral high-ground for being a bunch of cowardly, faggot, animal abusers.

As befitting a bunch of limp dick attention whores, whose only discernible personality traits are edginess and a supply of mommy and daddy’s hard-earned cash, drama swiftly erupted, and Mr. Ape was doxed – not by any animal activist or anything like that, but by one of his own minions over some petty monkeyfucker drama. It evidently wasn’t that hard a task, as Mr. Ape not only never stopped bragging about his area of study, but also gave out his phone number on telegram, as well as falling for numerous scams and cons. He apparently had serious delusions of grandeur, not only about his STEM degree, but also as being a perceived ‘king’ of the monkey community.

As best as I can tell, Drexel was doxed by one of his own ‘friends’, who either did it because they felt like they were not getting enough clout for their role in producing the videos, or perhaps they hated Ape, or whatever.

After Drexel's doxing – which seems to have occurred quite recently as of my writing, though I couldn’t tell you an exact date – the community imploded in a frenzy of paranoia regarding who’d be doxed next by the “Karens”, who to trust, and so on. The community on 0chan can be seen currently in a state of cannibalization, as users turn on each other, pointing fingers, hurling slurs; rats flee the sinking ship. In the midst of all this, monkey videos are still being spread on there, but to a much lesser degree than when Ape was active. Currently, it seems like the users of that forum are not in consensus of what the next step the community at large shall take is; users want a new telegram group to replace the Ape one. I am not sure if it has already been created, but either way, it is certain that this won’t be the end of it. There will be splinter groups, there will be new websites, just because this thread has been written at a time of stagnation for the million pity community, does not mean that the scum has been washed away. There is still a demand for torture porn, and there are still distributors.

Mr. Ape was just a symptom of this the psychotic zoosadism disease. There will be another. More innocent animals will die. It overwhelms me with disgust and sadness to think about.
I shall now talk about the people behind the camera: the VO’s, who film the torture.

Part Three: Insane Asians​

When I began my research into million pity, one of the most common theories behind the phenomenon was that all the commentors on YouTube were a bunch of angry third worlders; this opinion is so ubiquitous that it was even parroted here, on this forum.

As elaborated above, the million-pity thing is a lot more complicated than that. The commenters on the YouTube videos, the members of the telegram groups, the anons on 0chan: none of them have been third worlders, they have overwhelmingly been Americans, or at least from the Anglosphere. It’s similar to the production of CP in Southeast Asia, à la Peter Scully. It sells, but who makes it?

As best as I can tell, they mainly come from one of two countries, with both countries tending to produce a particular type of video.

Firstly, the country where almost all the YouTube content comes from: Cambodia. The Cambodian videos are – broadly speaking – of two types; pet monkeys being mistreated by their owners, and “animal rescue” videos.

This video gives a highly educational breakdown on the motivations and socioeconomic factors behind the production of baby monkey videos in Cambodia.
Essentially:

>Cambodia had no vets whatsoever due to the Khmer Rouge
>The first batch of properly trained vets in Cambodia only graduated in 2021, and primate medicine is a far more advanced veterinary field that almost no one is likely to specialize in
>Cambodians may have, in good faith, made videos of monkeys being rescued and attempting to treat them with makeshift vet techniques. The monkeys are badly hurt on camera by people unaware of real animal care
>The highest paying regular profession in Cambodia (Doctor) makes around USD4,000. The Ad revenue from a video of a monkey in clear pain generates around this much in one go

A majority of the content on YouTube is a result of this. Some monkeys develop rabid cult-followings, akin to pornstars – it’s a disgusting comparison, I’m sorry, but that’s really how it is – and you’ll often see YouTube users talking about specific videos or monkeys.

Secondly, and far worse, are the Indonesian producers of monkey torture content. The Cambodian videos may be considered ‘softcore’, but it is Indonesia where the bulk of the truly horrible stuff is created. While I was researching for this thread, I found an excellent (and very recent) writeup someone did on reddit (archive) (he claims to be currently infiltrating another monkey hate group unrelated to Mr. Ape’s) that addresses a lot of the points I previously mentioned in my own thread, though with less detail. He did a stellar job on writing about some of the more notorious Indonesian producers of monkey snuff. To quote from him:

“Here's the information I have on the two biggest and most notorious monkey torture video producers. It's very easy to tell which producer is which based on the background setting and style of videos they produce. Both of them live in Indonesia, but that's all I know about their location.

They always torture one specific species of monkey called the crab eating macaque, also known as the long tail macaque. They are native to large parts of South East Asia and are very commonly found in Indonesia in particular. Long tail macaques are not an endangered species and are often considered pests by locals. Up until a couple years ago their conservation status was categorized as least concern, though nowadays they are considered threatened. As far as I'm aware there are no regulations on their sale in Indonesia. As such, baby long tail macaques can often be found in Indonesian pet markets for less than $20 dollars each, making the production and sale of baby monkey snuff videos a highly profitable business model.

First I'll describe the most notorious of the two most popular torture video producers and also the most well known. This is the person who ran the Telegram server that made it into mainstream news articles last year. Before producing that type of content he was a typical pet baby monkey Youtuber who over time gravitated toward hurting baby monkeys to attract a reliable audience of monkey sadists. He is most commonly known as Ji Owner within the monkey hate community since he was famous for owning a heavily traumatized baby monkey named Ji that he exploited for views on his old Youtube channel. Ji herself was famous for constantly holding the back of her head with her hands and rocking back and forth due to a traumatic upbringing. Somehow the monkey sadists found that hilarious and now Ji is something of a mascot to them. You can find out a lot about that by typing "Monkey Ji" into the Youtube search bar, there are a ton of videos documenting the abuse this man has wrought against baby monkeys while he was still just a Youtuber a few years ago. Once Youtube banned him he became a full time monkey snuff video producer. Note: new videos of Ji are still being uploaded to Youtube, but the channel that does this claims to be a new owner and not the original Ji Owner. I don't know whether or not that's true.

Ji Owner's monkey torture videos are easily distinguishable by an outdoor jungle setting. He can also be identified by his very long, gross fingernails and by the presence of his buddy who holds the camera for him. His videos are broken down into sequences of small clips, usually only a couple minutes each. This is not a result of editing them down, that's actually how he films them. While preparing different torture weapons he turns off the camera to avoid getting his face or other identifying information in the shot. He almost always kills the monkey at the end of each sequence of short clips, usually totaling around 12 minutes per monkey. Recently he's taken a liking to nailing monkeys to trees through their hands and feet rather than tying them up as he did in earlier videos. Monkey sadists consider his videos the gold standard of monkey snuff because of his unmatched brutality. They pay him anywhere between $150 to $300 per series depending on the torture instruction and weapons required.

The second most notorious producer is a man also from Indonesia. He used to run a pet monkey Youtube channel called Mas Pochet, and that's the name monkey sadists most commonly know him by. That channel was banned by Youtube in late 2021, but he keeps popping up under new names, moving from channel to channel as Youtube plays an extended game of whack-a-mole with him. He doesn't upload torture directly to Youtube, but he does mistreat them in his Youtube videos. That consistently leads to his channels getting banned. The purpose of those channels, as far as I can tell, is to advertise to monkey sadists who then contact him elsewhere to buy custom videos. You can tell which channels are his by the distinct layout of his property and an assortment of recognizable cages that he keeps his monkeys in. Sometimes you can even recognize the monkeys that appear in his Youtube videos as monkeys tortured in his privately sold torture videos. You can tell apart his torture videos from those of Ji Owner by the higher quality of video and the fact that he usually works alone. That's not always the case though, occasionally he has someone else helping him. Also more of his videos tend to be indoors as compared to Ji Owner. He doesn't seem to own a tripod and has a tendency to hold the camera between his legs in a squatting position while he uses his hands to torture monkeys. Instead of nailing or tying them to trees like Ji Owner does, he has a tendency to tie them up spread eagle to the outside of their cages.

Mas Pochet is more prolific a torture video producer than Ji Owner, but his videos tend to be shorter, averaging five minutes each. This is because he is more willing to have a multitude of clients unlike Ji Owner who keeps maybe three at most at a time. Mas Pochet leases monkeys to his clients long term. Instead of killing them in each video, he is open to only injuring them and keeping them to produce more videos with later. This allows him to lease each monkey to multiple people who are then only allowed to request non-lethal torture so that the monkey may be reused. If a client wishes to kill a monkey they pay more to "adopt" one for the privilege of deciding the monkey's fate. Many of Mas Pochet's monkey sadist clients consider him unreliable due to his problem with alcoholism. As such, he typically charges less than Ji Owner does for videos.”

This is all I’ve been able to find; info is quite scarce online, and unlike this redditor, I refuse to try and infiltrate any monkey groups. Researching this thread has made me upset enough as is. I don’t mean to say that no Cambodians are involved in snuff content, or only these specific people are creating the videos; this is a huge fucking industry, and I’m only scraping the surface. There are other VO’s like “ratmaster” (I assume he is a VO, but maybe he is someone like Mr. Ape who finances the production) who gets mentioned a lot, but I don’t have the stomach to go looking, I am sorry.

The creation of these videos is done by horrifically sadistic people, but it is likely they would not have been made in the first place if there was no market for them. Since the creation of this thread, quite a few sites that were at one time used by monkeyfuckers as their playground, have since taken an active stance on moderation and removal of monkey-torture content, such as VidLii, which was a shortlived hub for them. However, there is still much work that needs to be done.

Part Four: Closing Remarks​

This thread was horrible to write. When I started, all I was aware of was the 2019 boysclub server. I wasn’t sure how deep the rabbit hole would go. In my research, I have seen things too horrible to put into words. I found out about 0chan in a thread on 4chan that had videos of cruelty that I can’t even begin to comprehend.

The beauty of nature sometimes overwhelms me; I have personally seen baby monkeys in the wild playing with one another, playing pranks on their parents… the idea that there are people out there who relish in subjecting these beautiful animals to such terrible tortures, it makes me feel an emotion I can’t put a name to. It’s a profound sense of loss and fury, of guilt of knowing that this even happens. The next time I see a monkey, I don’t know if I’ll be able to stop myself from being overcome with grief. It is tragic. How can people be so worthless? These people all have names and addresses. It’s all a matter of time.

1) "Cute aggression" (not specific to monkeys but would explain why younger monkeys are preferred, and why some species (e.g. monkeys and dogs) are preferred to other species by zoosadists). Monkeys, due to their similarity to humans, are especially likely to elicit feelings associated with cuteness (which are themselves likely a byproduct of maternal/paternal instincts towards our own offspring)
2) Monkeys are more human-like than other animal species and are physically similar enough that their reactions to fear and pain are easily recognizable and elicit a stronger response. This is true not just of facial/bodily expressions, but also behavior. The post-traumatic behaviors the OP mentions in reference to the macaque Ji can easily be identified as such and related (both consciously and unconsciously) to our knowledge and experience of analogous phenoma in humans. Would we be as quick to recognize trauma in, say, a deer? What would a traumatized deer even look like? Does such a thing even exist?
I think many participants in this subculture are opportunistic zoosadists (as opposed to sadists with a specific fixation on animals or on a specific animal) using monkeys as a substitute for humans.
3) Unlike some other primates, macaques are very inexpensive and their sale is not really regulated (as mentioned in the OP)

1) "Cute aggression" (not specific to monkeys but would explain why younger monkeys are preferred, and why some species (e.g. monkeys and dogs) are preferred to other species by zoosadists). Monkeys, due to their similarity to humans, are especially likely to elicit feelings associated with cuteness (which are themselves likely a byproduct of maternal/paternal instincts towards our own offspring)
2) Monkeys are more similar to human children than other animal species and are physically similar enough that their expressions of emotion (including fear and pain) are easily recognizable. I think many if not most participants in this subculture are sadists using monkeys as a substitute for humans.
3) Unlike some other primates, macaques are very inexpensive and their sale is not really regulated (as mentioned in the OP)

yeah this is a big theory i have seen floating around. one of the old youtube channels that used to upload monkey torture stuff actually had a Peter Scully avatar (the pedo who made daisy's destruction), so it might be something about this. someone on 0chan said Mr. Ape was found with CP on his harddrive, but like, i think that's just someone spreading rumours.
i think that at least for some people this is definitely a huge part of why monkeys specifically

I stumbled across some of this stuff from animal videos too. Watched a few on a quite wholesome channel where a family was rehabilitating and raising a monkey that had needed an amputation from being stuck in a trap. Very happy and healthy looking macaque, with no kind of behavior indicating abuse or trauma. Some of the comments had that consistent weird lingo. “Rat, discipline, etc.”.
Started getting those million pity videos in the recommendations, and watched a couple out of morbid curiosity. Realized I was skimming the surface of something truly heinous and disgusting. I figured that rabbit hole went down into some discord zoosadist shit, but I wasn’t going any further. Good write up.

I feel that this is on a much larger scale compared to that, videos of this get thousands of views and comments on youtube, that playlist in the OP has over 2 million views, who knows how many more people are in various telegram and discord groups. The fact that many of us have stumbled upon this on our own hints at something much bigger going on.
