In general I agree with you. That being said, I do think that the doomposting and criticism tends to come more from a place of ignorance when it comes to Nijisanji compared to Hololive.
This is mostly just a result of Hololive being the default in the EN fandom (especially back in 2021, when most people here got into vtubing) and thus being the most popular around here. There aren't a ton of Nijisanji fans here, while there are a lot of people who only engage with Nijisanji in relation to drama. Go to, say, the Niji threads on /vt/ and one will see the opposite dynamic at play.
It's a bit like if Hololive was obscure, and most people here only discussed Hololive in relation to Calli liking cuck art, Nene plagiarizing people, Rushia imploding her career, etc. In other words, taking real incidents - some small, some large - and making that their sole lens for viewing Hololive. People do doompost about Calli and Kiara, but that makes up a relatively small portion of Hololive discussion here, and such commenters are typically met almost instantly by others - including myself - mocking them for doomposting. As you mentioned, it's a meme.
In the case of the specific drama that caused people here to sperg out about politics - Finana banning "trap" - I am one of the people here who criticized her for it. However, a lot of the energy here has big Twitter cancel energy, as in, inflating something relatively minor into a supposed giant yab. And just like most Twitter cancel efforts, the anger will probably have no real impact Finana. Dislike bombs have a poor record of accomplishing things. Feel free to quote this if I'm wrong, but a month from now barely anyone is going to give a shit about this.
It reminds me of the Pomu-Finana offcollab in which Uki showed up - people here proudly proclaimed that she'd kill her growth through such things, yet she actually gained more subscribers than average when that happened.
To use another example, though admittedly an old one, people here once talked themselves into believing that Anycolor's Yumenographia project was connected to the literal yakuza based off of a few misread comments.
In general Anycolor has had a very strong latter half of 2021 and 2022 after making a lot of very necessary improvements, so the talk of Nijisanji being constantly one step away from blowing up feels a bit like desperation on the part of those who simply want that to be true. I've read people proclaim the coming demise of Pomu, Vox, Luxiem, all of NijiEN, and the entire company as a whole, yet clearly none of that has happened.
Nijifags here definitely need to have a thicker skin, as I've said multiple times. People in general need to have thicker skins here. As much as Nijisanji fans here are often guilty of jumping on bait, Hololive fans often fall into the spergery just as readily. That's why my general take on such things is to just ignore the most blatant spergs.
