Agreed... I have a husband, but we are not legally married because otherwise my disabled ass would get no help in life. America's bureaucracy is still very much set up to cater to "households" and "families" and will generally provide more tax breaks, medical and social safety net benefits, and student financial aid to single people with one or no income.Basically, tax reasons for one it makes them a lot lighter on you, also having your disability benefits cut because you're barely above the poverty line with your partner's job because your incomes are merged so they'll take a lot out of it, generally being listed as single gets you a lot more government benefits than marriage.
Edit: I don't blame Polissa for being pissed about the restriction and not realizing what it would do to your disability benefit to be married, but we live in an age where you can get divorced via the internet. Their credit must be absolute shit, that they can't pay for a simple Legal zoom thing. And it's also crazy BPD bullshit to want to sue the church for something you did voluntarily. I'm sorry if you were brainwashed and retarded, but Baptists don't force anyone to marry anyone else. You could have said no.
