Asterisk here: diabetes is counted as a disability under the ADA, so that American diabetics are protected when they ask their bosses for the reasonable accommodations it takes to keep diabetes controlled while working. Things like a consistent mealtime/scheduled break, or the ability to keep fast-acting glucose in an otherwise no-food area.No, sorry, Louie is wrong here. Diabetes isn't a disability, it's a disease, and one that can be easily lived with simply by eating right, taking care of yourself, and doing what your doctor tells you to do. The government agrees, which is why they don't give out disability benefits for people with the 'Beetus, especially Type 2.
So the only way diabetes is legally defined as a disability is in a way that only applies to people with jobs. Sorry, Lou.
