Yeah, I would never deny that Saito was deeply involved in the creation process especially as far as the aesthetics go and basic plot ideas, etc. But this is definitely an Ikuhara anime through and through. It's like as much of his anime as Twin Peaks belongs to David Lynch. It's like Twin Peaks the anime in some ways with how heavy handed the non-standard symbolism, postmodern crap goes and that's why people remember it instead of Saito's more pedestrian manga, not just because of the yuri. Maybe having to work within the confines of the limits posed on him by Saito's autism forced him to make it better and deeper but who knows.

As far as accusations of her being a homophobe. It's Japan, which is extremely conservative and employs save face culture. I don't really find it hard to believe she was a homophobe. Should fans have harassed her over it? No, in part, because these were white American weebs who have no place screaming at Japanese people over what they want for a product not made for their market or culture anyways. I'm kind of used to seeing people being more defensive of her now after she got on the Utena/Anthy ship train and being more critical of Ikuhara for whatever reason, but sure I could buy the opposite being true back then. Ikuhara seems to piss some people off for whatever reason, but I think he's genuinely open about this kind of stuff so I don't have a reason to doubt him.

robins coming out scene was actually really adorable? It was a really cute scene and felt real compared to the obviously pandering shit we usually get. My gaydar didn't go off for her, but looking back, lol I see it. Also Barb totally had the hots for Nancy, right?

Anyways, haven't liked season 2 or 3 nearly as much as the first, but I'm still enjoying it a lot. I probably would enjoy it more if I didn't bing like half a season a day, but I have no self control.

Personally, Nuvaring made me violently ill after like 3 days. I tried it for shitty periods/endo symptoms too. But I've never had luck with BC and am still looking for something to help.

See, I can get being uncomfortable by the incest stuff, but I don't see it as fetishism so much as exploring that dark subject and the psychological effects of it. Part of why I think Utena is so brilliant is because of how it explores dark themes like incest, abuse, and familial trauma. It's not for everyone tho.
