Fauna was the one I was least interested in when Council debuted since I am not into ASMR, but over time (especially with recent collabs) she has grown on me to the point where I consider her one of my favorites. I cannot even explain why honestly.

If you are super young NES game cartridges had battery-backed-memory or sometimes EEPROM in them for saving, if they didn't, they used a password system. I feel so old watching this.

For anyone interested, Sapa made a big compilation of all the shenanigans the Nijis were getting up to during the Summer Pool grand opening and it's well worth the watch!


Even though they're becoming more common, convergences on this scale within the company is still a rare treat.

There are a few reasons it started, some of which have already been mentioned here. I think it mostly just started with her debut because prior to that a lot of people on /vt/ thought that she was the Shachimu (aka Mumei) and thus hyped her up as being a "Gura killer." The whole Gura killer thing is mostly a meme in which some new vtuber gets hyped up as a Gura killer just so that people can then shit on them for not killing Gura, but with Petra I think it stuck due to the whole Shachimu thing (ie people thought Niji had countered/copied Hololive by recruiting a popular youtuber and giving them a young-ish, aquatic animal themed design).

Petra had the strongest growth in Obsydia prior to debut and for quite some time afterwards, perhaps in part due to the Shachimu rrat even though it became clear that she wasn't her the moment she started talking. This also probably attracted some ire from Selen and Rosemi fans, especially the latter as Rosemi is a bit of a darling due to her past lives and her being much closer to what most /vt/ users want from their vtubers. Petra leads Rosemi in subs to this day, which makes some people angry.

It's common to accuse Petra of being uncreative and uncaring of her fans (especially relative to Rosemi, once again). The former is a matter of taste, the latter is false imo, Petra generally speaks more highly of her fans than most other NijiEN livers except for when they're actively bullying her (something I'll get to in a bit). Compared to Rosemi and Selen Petra comes off as far more "normie" and far less of a weird geek. The otaku stuff she tends to be a geek for are otome games, which aren't exactly popular on /vt/ for obvious reasons. It's not difficult to see why /vt/ would gravitate towards gamer girl Selen and Rosemi the kinda autistic nerd over Petra.

Going back to the bullying thing, the standard dynamic for Obsydia and NijiEN as a whole is for Petra to be on the receiving end of bullying from the other livers and even her chat. That's definitely lessened, as the NijiEN guys don't really bully her, but it was a big dynamic early on after Obsydia's debut. Petra was fine with it and often feeds into it, but there will always be people who don't notice the humor and think Petra's genmates actually hate her.

All that being said, by now I honestly think most of the Petra hate is just trolling and people shitting up threads in an attempt to get a rise out of Petra fans. Those big threads often like to have a punching bag, and Petra kinda just became the punching bag for the NijiEN thread.

Out of curiosity, what are some people's favorite Birthday/Anniversary/Special Event lives, and maybe specific songs during them? Partly just want to see if I missed any great ones. I'll exclude anything from Watame since she's my oshi.

Korone, for not exactly being one of Hololive's strongest singers, has always just had a great stage presence. Especially this song in particular.

Towa's first live singing Palette is just engrained in my memory. (Though during -Scream- they do a great job playing with the colors)

Ghost is arguably one of my favorite Hololive Originals, so it goes without saying.

She's definitely the most normal and with her going to college and only having a laptop (plus any lack of skill lol) her game streams are "lesser" than a lot of others. She's still pretty fun though, I'd recommend her piano streams, cooking streams (including the whitest food I've ever seen that's actually Korean: corn cheese), and the fact that she's one of the few who semi regularly plays horror games. She also did that crane game over the internet thing which I wasn't aware existed. If they're gonna hate her for anything, hate her for the right reason: she thinks all cheese is the same. As an aside she also has my favorite model of all the EN characters, I love the color scheme and penguin hoody.

Her messing up the settings over and over because she's using the joystick instead of the d-pad is the icing on the cake.
And yes, it does feel bad to be reminded of how old I am. Thanks.
