I was reading a book called 'A Square Meal' and during the Great Depression they had men (judged on their worthiness of receiving charity) who had to wait in an hours long line at midnight for bread and coffee. Why'd they make it so late? Because in their minds only those who were truly needy would be willing to put up with it. This was a nightly ritual for these men. The first government food assistance recipients received beans with rocks in them and molasses, and that was pretty much it for a long while.

In short, what a whiny bitch. I'm getting MATI over the entitlement over this trashbag.

Her complaining about waiting really highlights her entitlement. In her mind no one else is struggling to survive. She also seems like the type of person to try and cut the line by telling those running the operation that she requires special accommodations. This was just to get a swab inserted into my nostrils for thirty seconds.

My local community pantry, you get a random number when you walk in the door. That random number is when you get called to do your walk through. If you get a high number, not only do you have to wait three hours for everyone else to walk through before you, you're also getting what remains after all the good shit has already been picked through.

Even the women with hysterectomies they would walk to the bathroom on their own and maybe grab food after the first day or two. Same with showering.

I still remember the day when randomly, bizarrely, a bag of the paper kitty litter I use for my rats turned up at the community pantry. I heard choirs singing and the trumpets of angels. It saved me a whole $18 and I felt like I'd won the lottery. I was able to go to the secondhand store and buy clothes.

I recently had to go to DMV to get a vehicle registered in my name. Although I set up an appointment for a specific time, it didn't mean I got seen at that time. Instead, it meant I was allowed to join the long line of people waiting at that time. It's marginally better than the pre-COVID setup where you entered the line upon entry and hoped it didn't take an hour or more of waiting to get your simple business taken care of.

Polissa comes off as more ungrateful than she already has with her refusal to wait in a food line. Sure, a three-hour wait is long and can be inconvenient. However, if she's gone as many days she she alleges without food for herself and for Josh, 3 more hours shouldn't be a problem and should be worth the wait. Once again Polissa prefers to make excuses than take helpful action.
