I do think if you were chronically online during the late 2000s-early 2010s it was the prime time to develop a gore fixation. I believe gore addiction is a thing, and there tends to be a rabbit hole one falls down where slowly you go from morbid curiosity -> it "scratches an itch"-> you get a level of satisfaction you can't get anywhere else -> sexual fixation -> fantasy becomes reality

In a similar way to how many child sexual abusers aren't technically pedophiles in the psychological sense (ie: Matthew Graham described before he found camaraderie in the hurtcore community, he'd never felt any sexual way towards sadism or children, but after the initial desensitization he eventually would find himself masturbating to increasingly horrific content.
