It's really funny to me when people do the "land acknowledegment" thing and then get caught with their ass out when someone challenges them on what that means in practical terms. It really shows how performative it is.

It's all focused on just saying all the correct magic words even if there is nothing behind them and they have no tangible effect on anything. It doesn't right any wrongs, it's all about signalling how you are a good person with the right opinions, even if you have no idea what the fuck you're talking about.

I'm very late to this thread, having discovered it earlier this year. But I laughed myself to tears when I found it. Stephanie was my personal lolcow on Twitter in around 2015. I would keep an eye on her antics. I remember she flipped out on someone who was being TrAnSpHoBiC by saying something along the lines of "oh so if you hate trans people, you must hate towel heads!". I regret not having this screenshotted everyday, but she definitely used that term. I eventually got blocked once she figured out what I was doing and hadn't seen her since. I thought she disappeared after she got suspended. Boy was I wrong.
