I'm increasingly alarmed at how much other world leaders are willing to tell the emperor he's naked.
France, then Germany, now Mexico. He's getting reamed by most of our allies already. Imagine how much disrespect he's gonna get after the midterms put his party out of power.

Trump Says He Could Have Made Musk ‘Drop to His Knees’

The war of words between former President Donald Trump and Elon Musk is intensifying—and getting weirder.
On Tuesday evening, Trump responded to a series of tweets the Tesla CEO had sent Monday encouraging Trump to end his political career.
“I don’t hate the man, but it’s time for Trump to hang up his hat & sail into the sunset,” Musk had declared on Twitter. “Dems should also call off the attack—don’t make it so that Trump’s only way to survive is to regain the Presidency.”
No surprise that the former president didn’t take well to the slight. For his part, he took to his right-wing social media network Truth Social and assailed Musk, recalling one of the many times the Tesla CEO visited the White House during his administration.
“When Elon Musk came to the White House asking me for help on all of his many subsidized projects, whether it’s electric cars that don’t drive long enough, driverless cars that crash, or rocketships to nowhere, without which subsidies he’d be worthless,” Trump wrote, “and telling me how he was a big Trump fan and Republican, I could have said, ‘drop to your knees and beg,’ and he would have done it.”
For good measure, the ex-president appeared to revel in Tuesday’s other Musk news: Twitter is suing the moon-loving billionaire, alleging that he broke a contract to purchase the company.
“Now Elon should focus on getting himself out of the Twitter mess because he could owe $44 billion for something that’s perhaps worthless. Also, lots of competition for electric cars!”
Musk didn’t immediately return The Daily Beast request for comment on Tuesday night.
Throughout the day, Trump also attacked the House Jan. 6 committee, issued endorsements to MAGA-friendly candidates, and shared baseless claims that the 2020 election was “rigged.”
“The Cheating and Irregularities were unbelievable,” the ex-president fumed after the committee tasked with investigating the Capitol riot disclosed that Trump attempted to contact a witness who has yet to appear before the panel, constituting potential witness interference.

Meh, I actually agree with the thread name change. The gamut of topics this thread (and its predecessor) tackles, despite being a thread nominally about Brandon, do run pretty wide. Plus, this prevents the risk of another "TOO OFF-TOPIC, SHUT IT DOWN".

Biden’s inflating the U.S. labor market with millions of foreign workers comes as millions of working-age Americans remain on the labor market sidelines.
“There are approximately 11.5 million job openings in the United States right now, and 14.73 million employable Americans,” a study by the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) notes. “This means that there are 3.23 million more workers in the country than open jobs.”
Similarly, the Center for Immigration Studies finds that the number of native-born Americans who are now out of the labor force has increased in all 50 states tremendously in the last two decades. This is particularly true of working class Americans who are the most likely to compete against foreign workers for U.S. jobs.
From 2000 to 2022, the share of non-college-educated Americans in the labor force declined in every state, and in 24 of those states, the decline was seven or more percentage points. The decline was nearly five percent on average for non-college-educated Americans in their “prime working age” during this 22-year period.
Annually, the U.S. gives out green cards to about 1.2 million foreign nationals and another 1.5 million temporary work visas. This is in addition to the millions of illegal aliens who are added to the U.S. population every year.

I don't know what it's like in every field, but an American born software engineer is generally more multidisciplinary than an engineer in Bangalore, though this also leads to a higher cost to employ.
American businesses are supposed to try to hire locally before going for an H-1B, and H-1Bs generally lock you into a company (unless you can get another company to shoulder the burden of maintaining your paperwork / additional costs). It's actually so prohibitive that a lot of tech companies just open offices in India rather than bother with H-1Bs ("offshoring").
Offshoring draws a lot of hate because you export jobs and make a lower quality product - you have to redesign your architecture in order to have some cheap foreign coders maintain it. So for the industry I'm familiar with, it really only hurts companies that weren't economically viable in the US in the first place.
