The White House press pool is already making a very favorable impression in Riyadh. I'm surprised the Saudis didn't just behead him right there and then.
It is not going to pass. This is seemingly a blanket AR ban Nadler and Ciccillini are proposing. The article covers just why it is not happening. It is political theater. You say that after a gun control bill was just passed and the republicans are about to pass an amnesty bill. There is a good chance it will be passed.
Schumer would face the same problem in the Senate. What does he gain by calling a vote on the House bill knowing that doing so will force vulnerable incumbents like Mark Kelly and Maggie Hassan to cast a thankless vote shortly before the midterms? Senate Dems almost certainly won’t get to 50 votes on the bill in any event; Punchbowl notes that Dianne Feinstein’s AWB bill has only 37 sponsors. Which means not only will the bill fail, it may fail spectacularly and hand Republicans a “Dems in disarray” talking point. So much for Team Blue’s big play for suburbanites.
As we’ve pointed out here previously, there’s simply no historical analogue to the type of gun ban that Ciccillini is proposing here, other than the previous ban imposed in 1994 that was allowed to expire ten years later. It’s hard to call that a “longstanding” law, especially since the ban was not renewed, and the handful of other “assault weapons” bans that have been put in place in blue states like California since the 1990s are more outliers than evidence of a widespread view that the most commonly-sold rifles in the country aren’t protected by the right to keep and bear arms.
An AWB is a non-starter in the Senate. They'd have already done it if they were up to it.You say that after a gun control bill was just passed and the republicans are about to pass an amnesty bill. There is a good chance it will be passed.
I seem to recall a lot of people in this thread saying that the last gun control bill would never pass. The republicans want to lose and they love to fuck over their voters. An AWB is a non-starter in the Senate. They'd have already done it if they were up to it.
Either way, here's a petition link.
Those Trump numbers are baked too. They over sample dems.Biden's approval on the economy is now 30%
Consumer sentiment is worse than 2008. Inflation is the number one concern in opinion polls.
The Democrats are absolutely fucked lol, especially given that these polls have been historically over weighted to Democrat voters.
An AWB proposal was rejected in the negotiations of that last bill.I seem to recall a lot of people in this thread saying that the last gun control bill would never pass. The republicans want to lose and they love to fuck over their voters.
It's better than sitting around crying with your thumb up your ass. The blackpill is just surrendering with spite.Petitions do jack shit and the only purpose is to get you on to GOP spam lists. Calling and letters(not emails) do only slightly more and if you do anything do that.
(Baron) Joseph Ford Cotto (currently of Pensacola, FL if I recall correctly)
I interacted with him a lot in 2020. He's a 30 year old jewish agnostic 'secular humanist' autist and published historian who is one of the few self-identified pro-choice socially liberal-ish 'Rockefeller Republicans' who actually support Trump rather than cuck to the left. He got the title of Baron from an African monarch who was touched by his steadfast defense. He believes that the American Revolution was a mistake and that the colonists should've stuck with Great Britain under perpetual monarchy. In the same way that some fantasize about being able to join in the Confederacy against the USA or being able to join the Nazis against the USA, he fantasizes about being able to join the British loyalists during the American Revolution.
One thing he frequently clashes with the online American right-wing with is the issue of abortion. He thinks it's important to keep the practice to prevent American demographics from going haywire (he believes it would cause a massive spike in crime and VoteBlueNoMatterWho people). Despite being socially liberal in the same way that many libs in the 2000s were, he nevertheless opposes the Democratic Party because he thinks it's too extreme in a 'woke' manner.
He lives in Florida (spent some time growing up in Pennsylvania) and believes (as I do) that DeSantis is overrated and would probably fare worse on the national spotlight than Trump if he (DeSantis) ever ran for President. One talking point Cotto brings up regularly is the notion that America now has an unprecedentedly large amount of "Cultural Democrat" aka Vote Blue No Matter Who voters who are increasingly steadily, making it increasingly more difficult for Republicans to win the Presidency. He thinks Trump is one of the few figures who can stem this tide because of his Rust Belt working class appeal. Eventually he expects Texas and Georgia and Arizona to be about as blue as Virginia because "of the ascendancy of the Cultural Democrat voter", making it super difficult for a Republican to win the Presidency .
You know, as weird as it may sound, I’m kind of forgiving of this Imperialist sperg. He sounds like an autistic wannabe American Cecil Rhodes in the 21st Century, which is a really brave (and/or a really stupid) viewpoint to hold. Generally these history-nerd types dream of an alternate history where an all-English-speaking Anglo-American empire more or less dominates the world and allows steampunk-ish technology to advance. It’s a naïve optimistic fantasy, much akin to futurism of 1950s America. If he wasn’t so gung-ho about divisive politics, I’d imagine he’d fit in with some history YouTubers like WhatIfAltHist (another naïve, but oddly enjoyable dweeb).I would say we need a rope and a tree for this faggot, but that seems far too quick and easy. Permanent exile to Canada, no Quebec, under pain of death by the breaking wheel for this bootlicking Tory. May his fetters lay lightly upon him, and may posterity forget we were ever brothers.
