What’s crazy is these people are dumb as rocks but know the ins and outs of abusing the system.

I had a neighbor lady who lived with her husband. She claimed he did not live there and was afraid of him so she could not pursue child support. She got food stamps plus cash assistance for their kids. She also received housing assistance for domestic abuse victims because again she was “fearful” of her husband. The husband claimed that he lived at another residence and also received food stamps. He worked under the table and sold drugs with their teenage son.

It used to be that welfare was only for women and children, and they would come around to your house (at least in Boston) and look for signs that men lived there. Maybe that wasn't such a bad system.

Unfortunately this is a way of life all across the country. Especially inner cities. Families teach their kids the ropes of getting on assistance like an apprenticeship. I have some people in my extended family like this and they all drive, have iphones, side hustles. Filled with drama, abuse and self destruction. At the same time if you have any aspirations beyond living in poverty this is not the way of life you would choose. It's for people with the lowest ambition and highest amount of sheer laziness. They also look at people in the middle class and up as "rich" and assume you owe them "help" when asked.

There was a mentally retarded guy in my town who I would see from time to time walking to a job at a grocery store for years. Even he wasn't fulfilled with just drawing a check in poverty. Many slightly retarded people can work menial jobs with ease. I still think of the hand that guy was dealt, poor dude.

There is an individual close to me who has had physical and mental issues for many years, including chronic pancreatitis, crippling anxiety, and uncontrollable high blood pressure. For years his middle-class parents struggled to handle his expenses--medical and everything else. (no Medicaid-rejected), and he lives with them. They're elderly now and still work to make ends meet.

He just had brain surgery for an aneurysm but Social Security says--"NO HELP FOR YOU,"

Perhaps he should contact one of these lowlifes for tips on how to win in the system.

It's not that they know how to win in the system, it's more that they are born into the system and live their whole lives in it. Cradle to grave. Everything they learn growing up is how to survive in that system.

They're all kinds of fucked up, everybody in this thread. They pass the kids around like Pokémon cards. They don't invest in houses, so they don't take care of them. They get stolen cars, so they don't worry about insurance and titles, they just hope they don't get pulled over. They take drugs and drink and maybe somebody is sober enough to call the cops when the fight breaks out.

Even Sarge is only one bad meth momma away from a life of incarceration.

They use the system because they know how it works from the inside. They know all the social help programs and who can apply and when. They use the cops against each other because it's another weapon.

This ain't some kinda drama for these folks, this is just life.
