This is actually the conundrum people find themselves in when they take a closer look at Guzma. Guzma has a lot of signs pointing towards him being verbally and physically abused by his father.

But since Guzma is an adult a lot of people question when ‘blaming his behavior on his upbringing’ ends and where Guzma taking accountability for his actions begins. He is a product of his environment but also in control of his decisions.

PL seems like the type of person who probably needs a proper group home or some sort of assisted living given his circumstances. Some sort of structured schedule where he can also be more closely monitored.

His grasp of English is really fascinating. If he didn't get angry about the 4th of July fireworks and other things that indicate he's from the USA I'd 100% think English was his second language. He makes mistakes I've never seen a native speaker of any English dialect make, things that specifically look like the result of learning another language with different grammar first.

I think the reason his linguistic mannerisms are so strange is because he doesn't even have a third grade education, per se.

My theory is that he wasn't proficient in any subjects because his parents didn't give a shit about his performance, then he was probably expelled for an extraordinary bout of tard rage early on, and his parents didn't bother putting him back in the education system after. (Think of it this way: if he's a selfish brat that throws temper tantrums constantly as a 31-year old man, imagine what he was capable of in grade school.)

So he kind of understands conversational English, but his grasp of it is tenuous at best because the fundamentals simply are not there (and if they ever were, he's forgotten them with disuse). The result is this surreal sort of pidgin-speak that almost sounds like an imitation of a native English speaker - because, well, it is. He probably knows from Discord conversations and Masters EX NPC dialogue what native English is supposed to look like, but he kind of cobbles what he knows together until he thinks it looks good enough.
