Excuse the off-topic post but I think the state of the modern detractor "sphere" is embarrassing. I got into following the guy, like a lot, after he stroked his penne, but I continued to follow him because of Tevin. Tevin always seemed to be able to take even the most boring DSP streams and make them palatable. I believe LSB was sort of able to carry that torch later on. But after the retirement of those two the sphere has went to shit.

The first major problem with the modern restreamers is how they do their streams in a scheduled, weekly, sometimes daily basis. Now as entertaining as dark  can be, he doesn't spill enough gold dust to warrant daily, full, restreams. And it shows by how they act; I tune into a modern restream and it feels like I'm listening to a wagie clock into his shift. They just get angry, and annoyed, and mute constantly, which begs the question, why would I watch that? Why should I watch a stream from someone who's just miserable and provides no other commentary besides being miserable and annoyed? Is that entertaining? Maybe for some .

The other issue with the detractors is I feel they have become too much of a "community". I'm not saying we should return to SOK gayops or anything, but, because they are so close with each other, they refuse to tread on each other's timeslots. The end result of this is that, instead of having multiple options to watch, we get stuck with only one. I remember his most recent Halloween stream- which have always been my favorite dark ""event""- the only person who I can find restreaming, was someone that I find incredibly boring and not funny (I won't say because he seems like a good guy and reads the thread I just think his content is bad).

TLDR: I think the modern restreamers see restreaming as an obligation, and are audibly miserable throughout 99% of the his streams, yet they do it daily and still bitch. Idk if it's just me but I find listening to someone bitch and be angry and miserable to be the opposite of entertaining. I also think they are too afraid to step on each other's toes, which creates a bear market for US, the listeners, who are forced to choose between one shitty restreamer, or raw DSP, which is becoming more preferable.

To be fair, Tevin for as long as I've watched him has always tried not to stream while others are streaming, or would actively encourage people to go watch "lesbian man" (LSB) instead etc.

Also early Tevin content was very angry and miserable too. I think it's more that newer detractors haven't reached beyond that fresh hatred for DSP yet. A lot of people forget that Tevin wasn't always the vaping chill guy he is more recently.

Piece of Peace actually reminds me of early Tevin (in a good way).

But anyways I more or less agree with your sentiments. Especially if we're talking about all the gay Discord drama that seems to happen within the detractor ecosystem.

You should give Piece of Peace a go, once you get beyond the palpable hatred he has for Phil, he's entertaining as fuck imo.

PoP is the only one I still like, but my problem with him just goes back to the problem that I think they stream too much. If Piece of Peace did say like a weekly stream, saved up a bunch of content all for one stream, it'd be kino and I'd watch it every week. But daily streams, or just restreaming for the sake of restreaming is not good content, especially for  us , who are the target audience.

An seems nice but I've never seen another person copy a guys mannerisms to the T like he does with Tevin. It makes me cringe.

Maybe it's just me, but these "jokes" are strangely specific. Like really, really strangely specific. It's also kinda funny how he tried to "rebrand" himself, yet this is one of those times where glimpses of the old DSP just show up like a split personality.

You notice it comes out more when he’s in a good humour and giddy (hitting tips goal, scamming for a PC). Black child slavery jokes, mimicking a child talking about old man dick, lots more dick jokes, scat talk. That’s Phil!

What bothers me is that there was a great MST3K-esque joke had he just waited thirty fucking seconds. One of Dave's biggest problems is his legitimate gin brain retardation and inability to assess a situation, whether it be in-game or in his commentary. In that scene it's obvious that there's going to be a handoff to the cops, because that's the whole point of the scene. All he had to do was wait until that actually happened and then just said "alright we'll start the bidding at $600". That's ALL that joke needed. It would be more subtle, make more sense, be better timed. Most importantly, it would have been funny.

Literally everything about the joke would be better.

But no, not Phil, he just had to actually throw in the word slave, toss out any semblance of structure or sense, obliterate the timing from orbit, and add an unnecessary "redneck" accent that actually detracted (lol) from the joke.

Outside of the obvious things to hate Phil for such as taking advantage of the physically and mentally disadvantaged, the delight in the suffering of others, the lying, the underhandedness, the lethargy, the grooming, the condescension, the unwarranted sense of self-importance, the main character syndrome... ok so there's a lot to hate Phil for but other than all those things the one that perhaps bugs me the most is how utterly incompetent he is at his job, and how he's deluded himself into thinking he's one of the best there's ever been. Fourteen years doing this, and he still can't craft a fucking joke.

Given how puritanical/repulsed Phil is by anything remotely sexual in games, it's very disturbing that his instant reaction when a kid is on screen is to start talking about her dad's "limp dick" and being naked on stage.
