A rat died inside my car once and I had to deal with that filth for along time. Still didn't make me vomit, and I have a faggot stomach.Sometimes the units smell but that's it.
While the math is nice and all you forgot to adjust your figures for the fact that they're on the right side of history. If you throw a large enough number at the average person who doesn't know jack or shit about statistics or scaling, over 1,000 I believe, they see that number and think one of two things:
My opinion is validated because everyone agrees with me
-or-
Everyone else is stupid because they do not agree with me
If we all just understood that no one is paying any attention to Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, or any of these fucking social media platforms, and that our numbers back that up, we'd be a lot less divided and stupid all the time. Social media is a poison chiefly because it uses numbers too large for humans to quantify and psychologically damages everyone from that misunderstanding alone.
By the way, as an addendum, just for funski, let's see how much of RetardEra agrees with the average Sandy Twit based on their total userbase from the most recent reporting, March 2021: (72,500/53,000)*100 = 136%!!
Everything kind of makes sense, now, doesn't it?
The problem isn't that the discussion is bullshit. The problem is that one moron will not stop incessantly posting and replying to every other god-damned person in the thread, thereby endlessly continuing the thread for days. Excelsiorlef's insane obsession with the topic means more work for the moderators because they have to monitor those discussions.....and they simply don't want to do the work of keeping up with it, especially when the scenario is just the false contrivance of some click-hungry advice column.I didn't bother reading that thread so I don't know if it deserved to be shut down or not. But who is to say what is bullshit or not on ResetERA when nearly every discussion revolves around idiotic screeching?
You bring up a good point about piracy and how it might seem hypocritical with how they're anti-capitalist. While I've done it the past and am neutral about, they're rather obvious at how they are clutching their pearls. (they're, they're, their, lots of theirs).
Resetera members are supposed to read the entirity of an OP before posting. Moderators locked this thread in 9 minutes -- almost certainly without watching the 23 minute video that sparked discussion.
Had they actually watched it, they probably would have seen that the Youtuber in question doesn't advocate for piracy at all. He is at worst kind of neutral on piracy, and is very supportive of subscription-based models that allow people of all classes to access professional-grade software. For the most part, he advocates boycotting shitty software companies rather than pirating their products.
Admittedly the video title is provacative and clickbait-y, but it's not like this was a 2-hour dissertation. The mods could have easily watched all of it and made a fair judgment rather than issuing an insta-lock.
I have to wonder why moderators are so obsessed with shutting down piracy discussions, when talks about other forms of rebellion and civil disobedience are openly encouraged. The ethos of Resetera is pretty staunchly anti-capitalist, so I don't understand why they are so quick to stomp on anyone who wants to talk about robbing some shitty software companies of a few bucks.
It's because they're also trying to LARP as a forum dedicated to the ACTUAL WORKERS of the industry.I have to wonder why moderators are so obsessed with shutting down piracy discussions, when talks about other forms of rebellion and civil disobedience are openly encouraged. Probably wishfully thinking they'll have a bunch of game devs and industry people hanging out and don't want to turn them off from the site.

It's absolutely wishful thinking. The two or three actual developers they have, combined with memories of NeoGAF's glory years, has made them think there are tons of industry people discussing things with them. But the actual few they have are little fish and nutcases. And Jason Schreier only comes by to stroke his ego and defend his honor.Probably wishfully thinking they'll have a bunch of game devs and industry people hanging out and don't want to turn them off from the site.
To be fair it is a false equivalency, cops don't get shot by their own nearly as much as hood niggers do.
Welcome! I know you're not a right-winger, but after a few weeks on here, you'll be wanting to lynch niggers in no time. Enjoy!Hey everyone!
And holy shit! I just discovered this website and this thread today, and I cannot believe it exists. I've been browsing resetera for years (it's a bad addiction, like watching a car wreck) , and can never wrap my head around the psychopathic lunacy. I'm not a right winger by any means, but almost every topic is pure insanity, with most posts and especially mod posts being the most horrific, empty kind of virtue signalling and detached from reality trash.
It's been so therapeutic and cathartic browsing their thread today and seeing the same posters and mods called out as I've personally always noticed as being the most insane, nasty, worthless, and insufferable at that board like Slayven, fat4all, messofenago, ZeoVGM, Kyuuji, Transistor, etc. So thanks for that! I typically browse the place to laugh, but it inevitable turns to annoyance and irritation as I see the mass bullying and banning of even the most innocuous posts, or anything that isn't inline with the "agreed upon" view point for any topic, which is in almost every case a completely hysterical and unhinged view.
Anyway, appreciate thread, and I look forward to reading and participating in the mostly sane and witty critiques here![]()
could have sworn within the first month or so they were saying its anti gay propaganda when people were saying it was primarily spread among gay men. guess that makes op a homophobe, right?
That's a holdover from NeoGAF. Basically, there are two reasons for the anti-piracy stance.
