The sentiment is nice, but it's best to say the mind works in conjunction with the body and is still an anatomical structure affected by flesh. A simple one would be meth, which once ingested for a period of time will change the brain pathways and the mind. There's hundreds of conditions, both normal processes and abnormalities that show the mind and the body tend to be exchanging power often. A placebo effect shows mind over body while something like flora in your digestive system influencing disorders like depression shows body over mind. Their body is not their mind is for disregarding looks as basis of judgement, not a hard truth.

Best to make peace with it and deal with it as is. My body is mine and cool, after all.

"Flesh costume I'm wearing" is unbelievably optimistic. This mind/body disconnect is a common thing for autism, and possibly one of the main reasons so many troon out. We still don't have anything more than breaking your legs to POSSIBLY grow taller, we're not any level of "flesh costume changing". The closest thing we have are artifical limbs and muscles, which have a slew of their own problems and aren't fleshy in the slightest. It's an uphill battle working with and against biology, it's not a character customization screen or a clothing store.

This isn't a bad thing Jude: it's what you make of it. Taking medication to treat my mental health changes how I experience the world, but did I stop existing or is my condition suspended to allow me to breathe? If you were Christian then became pagan, does the rest of you suddenly get erased theoretically when you switch commitments? Humans go through periods of growth and change. Some things stay the same, but some things don't and it's normal. And being trans isn't your only focus in life, I hope.


I don't get Erin. I suppose my sex as a female has and will always color certain aspects of my life, mainly sexuality and healthcare. But we live in a time where being a woman in America is incredibly free: I'm allowed to do everything a man can, and encouraged to become educated and a part of the workforce. Things I experience in my hobbies, in my friendships, and even medical things (like the common cold) are surprisingly universal regardless of your chromosomes even if you have extra. Being a woman is part of me, but it isn't an all encompassing me. @The Silent Perjority is absolutely right on the money with his assessment. Tony's putting on the costume of trans, diving in deep to convince himself of some sort of importance and identity.

...but my friend being into cars isn't informed by his gayness. My teacher's love for teaching and passion for her subject isn't informed by being black. My love for making fun of cows isn't driven by my vagina (heheh). We're conglomerations of different parts and aspects of our lives. He only has two other interest than traaaaaaaanssss off the top of my head: hiking and religion, maybe. He barely mentions the later so I'm guessing it's a social club for him. He's strangely empty even with his love of hearing himself talk.

He also looks better because he doesn't look completely dead inside like he does now.

Granted, it's only in one photo, but it's very noticeable compared to the all the same uncanny valley, closed-mouth grimaces he now has to do. The smile actually reaches his eyes whereas nowadays it doesn't.

I will never get over how a crowd that overlaps so much with smug reddit atheists has essentially recreated and reified the idea of an eternal soul that’s seperate from the human body. Probably doesn’t help that the go to analogy for the brain for decades has been a computer. You get nerds who think their personality and cognition is just software running on interchangeable hardware.

Admittedly I assumed it was for a fan club for the 1965 Thomas Disch novel The Genocides, where aliens force humanity to stop performing health destroying cosmetic surgeries and medical interventions on mildly quirky children.

I'll wait for Erin-chan to embarrass himself but it must fucking suck to be a hardcore supporter of something that can do no wrong. Instead of talking about the flaws of the people who shaped history, flaws in their methods, and how we learned from them since then you have to paint over everything with a positivity brush to keep your side as glamorous as possible and sympathetic since the sinners on the other side are more sinful than you. Learning we made mistakes might give enemies ammunition, which can shatter apart our entire movement with falsehoods and lies. See, Christianity has a built in failsafe about flaws, forgiveness, & repenting that SJWs don't have. Sins can be forgiven before baptization, but make a mistake once you're trans and you will be glossed over with paint or even shunted depending on the community (more likely for cis people than trans though). Being and projecting perfection and virtue must be a nightmare.
