Sarge is simple, he just wants to love and be loved but has an odd way about going about it due to his disability, doesn't matter whether male or female reciprocate these feelings, as long as it's something to hang onto.
I think that goes back to his childhood trauma and all over upbringing, because of the incident it moulded him into someone specific and not who he could have been.

I used to be a huge Sarge stan untill i went and pozloaded my neghole to see how he was like in FB messages. Even though my burner was barely 18 and had a boyfriend, he would not stop flooding my messenger with dick pics. I still feel bad for sarge, but any sympathy ended there.
If i could have changed anything i should have made my burner under 18 just to see how far he would really go, or if he had some semblance of a true southern gentleman with values. Nevertheless i agree with what others have said. I think alot of Sarges issues are a combanation of very real physical trauma influencing his brain and emotional development, plus whatever environment he grew up in surely was not nuturing in the formation of theory of mind. This is all a perfect storm of events to get exactly what Sarge is today.

It's insane how truly awful what Kim went through was. Severely deformed twins, having a csection to remove the corpses of two babies, infections, hospital stays... A normal woman would be traumatized from all that. But she's so completely nonplussed. She's tries sometimes to act sad but it's almost scary how her only functional emotions seem to be indifference and anger.
