She doesn't explain what foundation she's taxing these "millionaires" from. Is it net worth or is it yearly salary? Because she'll be very disappointed to know that Chief Executive Officers only make about $200,000+ a year in salaries in total most of the times and the money usually comes from stock investments and savings. She'll basically be taxing non-existent income with no foundation meaning competent people in congress will tell her this law is unconstitutional and strike it down.

Which is fucked up because on paper I’m a millionaire. I have a house that I’ve managed to pay off. My wife and I have investments (401k’s, 529’s and IRA’s) and reasonably sized checking and savings. 90% or more of my assets are not liquid.

I’ve already paid taxes on my home, I’ve paid taxes on my income and when I go to liquidate my assets, I’m going to pay capital gains taxes.

This is just an additional tax that would penalize me for not being a financial retard like she is.

Of course, she’ll never be president (is this a she or a troon btw? I can’t tell from her voice).

Funny you mention the laptop class and their interest. Not gonna PL too much but yeah this is brought up by execs over and over in company meetings and talked about by directors below them in other meetings and has been all summer. Basically "brace for impact" being shouted internally and "Everything's fine" being displayed externally.

The fact that those in charge are yet again changing the goalposts is telling enough for the majority of Americans with even the most basic grasp on the economy. Joe Public sees the cost of everything go up and up and up, reads about massive layoffs in companies and yet the Federal government persists in saying "everything is fine" while everything is on fire.

I'm not a finance guru, I inspect airplane parts and build Uncle Sam's bombs for a living, yet I can see that there isn't much road left for our politicians to kick to can of recession down. Most of my coworkers, civie and military, can see it too.

Recession was always propaganda and pure cope to avoid saying a nation is in a DEPRESSION. Prior to recession talk, you just talked about depression in terms of severity and duration. Recession wasn't even popularized as a term until the 1970s. We've seen ShadowStats and other people like that saying, "the methodology for reporting this stuff has been changed to bake in upside to the numbers for decades." Going by prior methodology, even the Magic Wand period of the Trump administration which was reporting official figures of 4 percent GDP growth should have really been reporting 1 percent GDP growth or less per year and should have NEVER reported GDP growth during the Biden administration. The country has never really truly recovered from the 2007 and 2008 DEPRESSION to become a robust economy. The economy was dog paddling around trying to keep its head above water from 2009 to 2019 and then COVID-19 machinations took a fumbling, stumbling economy that should been reporting small negative GDP figures for about 5 and a half years out of 11 and drove it off the cliff.

Why are they circling the wagon this badly when they have to know people will not only notice they're circling the wagon, but that we are in a recession. We're regularly hearing news of layoffs or companies still having trouble getting back to pre-pandemic levels of employment, and this is ignoring higher energy prices and inflation. You have to either be stupid or disingenuous to believe the economy is doing fine under those circumstances.

Its political suicide to openly admit that we are in a recession. If president Bumbles admits that we are in one the Dems can kiss the elections goodbye (and god help us if they still plan to run the shuffling corpse for re-election in 24). I guess there is the added bonus that anyone who runs while saying "Biden administration caused a recession" can get hosed down by "fact checkers" screaming "ACKCHYALLY THISS ISN'T A RECESSHHION TECHNICALLY!!!!"

My Best guess is kicking the can down the road till after midterms hoping to mitigate loss/after they rig the whole thing then let it all fall out. At least that's what I hope because otherwise they are buying more time to scrape out what money they can before letting it all drop out, or more worryingly they are legit completely in denial about everything as they are desperately trying to duct tape everything back to stable.
