Supposedly the max sentence in Virginia if they tack rape charges on is life, for what it's worth.

I’d believe Chris would have been stubborn enough to refuse to plea that had him plead guilty and get time served, which led to this being put before a grand jury. He might just insist on his innocence all the way to a jury trial and sit in jail for another year.

Yeah but it's also not like Chris has never encountered the law before and just sat in his room playing with army men until this point. He's had multiple violent outbursts that got him in trouble and now it's been established that he will act out inappropriately on sexual urges too. He may not be an axe murderer but he really should not be allowed around anyone vulnerable like seniors or children. It seems fairly clear at this point that he's either too delusional, or simply doesn't care, to follow laws and social norms.

This is the thing that sticks out to me. If this was an open and shut case, they would not have had to wait until the last possible moment before sending him to the grand jury.

Like you said, all we know now is that this case is being handled very unusually. At this point it's impossible to determine why, maybe it's Chris's usual antics, maybe somebody was just slacking off, maybe they think they have a weak case, etc.

I actually kinda wonder if he’ll trick himself out. He did have a weird little bi-curious phase a while back, where he was actively kissing men. And really, the guy fucked his very elderly mother, and enjoyed it. Going prison gay is mild deviancy in comparison. I picture a Richard Speck type of situation, some alpha fag basically keeps him as a sex pet, and Chris, out of sheer loneliness just goes with it.
