There really isn't anything illegal about what they did underneath Texas law (as far as I am aware). All they really have to do is shut the fuck up, stay out of further trouble, and let the lawyer do the talking, and they stand a very good chance of winning. Texas has a crazy broad definition of self defense and their castle law is one of the most comprehensive in the country, coupled onto the fact that the video evidence clearly shows that they were not the aggressors.
It's been a few years since I took my EMT course so thanks for the info, I should probably take another course to stay current.
