In a normal expedient case I'd agree with you. But remember they have had him in lockup for a year now. They arnt trying to build a case against him or figuring things out. They have known what they are charging him with for months. While its still possible rape will be added, it's not likely.

There is also the Chris factor you are forgetting, Chris is Special needs and attracted a media show, my guess is they have tried to offer him something he's turned it down, and now he's getting treated worse than he would initially would have been.

There is also the Local aspect, Chris while famous online he is known in some circles IRL one of them is with Law Enforcement, not only though his own brushes with the law but in general through him just being odd and terminally online, the local government and law have let him slide because he wasnt much of a irritation before but now he is and I can see the, handling him harder because of that.

wow thats depressing
In some states/localities lawyers are/used to be, at least, exempt from jury duty. Rationale being that other jurors may tend to put disproportionate weight on a lawyer's perspectives (which is also a nice way of acknowledging that lawyers also tend to dominate /speak authoritatively on legal matters, whether or not they actually remember their 1L basic crim/civ pro principles after x years doing other things), and/or that lawyers do often actually come in with some level of inside baseball knowledge/reasonable speculation.

Also people who don't get why some people would not want to be on a jury and lose all their income and possibly go broke and get fired (despite laws that say your boss cannot do that it does happen) are absolutely autistic and don't understand ordinary people, note this is an actual thing for most lawyers, who are not ordinary people.
I could be wrong but I think some jobs I've held require you to use PTO time toward jury duty. Who doesn't want to miss their only-can-afford-it-yearly vacation allocation to sit on a jury...

Edit: Yeah confirmed that in some states employers do not have to allocate paid time off for jury duty. Now consider some employers also lump sick time in with PTO. Now you can't be sick or take a vacation if you end up on a jury. (:_(

There is no Chris factor, you are as delusional as chris is and should go outside for a little bit today if you think anyone in the court system cares about chris chan. He isn't special, he isn't even interesting. In the court system he is the thousandth schizo idiot they are dealing with this week alone. They probably really are annoyed that there are like 20-50 weens desperately calling them putting on retarded fake voices and trying to get information about the case, but beyond that this is business as usual for them. If you think the local police knew who he was upon picking him up and really considered his internet fame, then I have some amazing investment opportunities I would love to sell you on because you're a total idiot.

Agreed. Tbh, there are hundreds of people crazier and more well known that go through the system than cwc. Even criminals that are well known by local law enforcement are treated exactly the same as cwc has been treated during the last year. While it is an infortunate reality of the US legal system, the only times in which well known individuals are treated differently is when they are a famous celebrity or other wealthy individials.

I still have a bad feeling based on the number of times Chris has gotten off before.

Maybe it's different because the incest and fact the other party can't drop the case out of guilt.

When he was arrested he had the gunt screaming loudly, and he was a subject of intrest even in passing by mainstream media in the form of Fox news talking head, while he is nothing special when it comes to the nuts and bolts of his problems he does attract attention the local legal system are not used to dealing with, they haven't had this much attention for a case in a long time if ever - That is the Chris factor he's pushing them into territory they are not used to dealing with or good at managing.

Even if the officers initially didn't know who Chris was the attention they had when he was being arrested wasnt, and then once the news got out and they got more calls in a day than they have in a week they knew something was up.

I think it's probably just an open and shut case, the only thing i'm worried about at all is the judges sentencing. I assume that he will probably be guilty and get time served, but depending on circumstance I could see the judge giving him Time served + 1-2 years, he'd probably spend some more time in lockup before going on parole and having to report regularly to the state in that case... The chance of him getting an actual sentence of Time Served + 4 years is sketchy.

The truth of the matter is that Parent son incest as a charge is what manslaughter is to murder, it's meant for when a father rapes his son/daughter and the prosecution can't bring the victim up on stand because it would destroy a child mentally. The prevailing sentiment about rape is, no rape victim, no rape, and Jury very rarely (almost never) convict without victim testimony. The reason its a class 5 is to throw the book at daddy for fucking his child when everyone knows it was rape but theres no testimony.

Chris is not daddy raping his child, and while fucking your elderly mother is gross as shit, it doesn't carry the same "weight" The likelyhood of him getting creamed with a serious year count is... low but not negligible depending how the prosecution is playing it.

I'm going to spoil some of the fun for you, EVERY ARREST DONE IN PUBLIC is accompanied by people filming it and screaming at the police, asking what happened, and a crowd of lookie loos. Every single fucking one. "media attention" tucker carlson mentioning him once in passing as a gross tranny before moving on did not actually get people interested enough to look into him. "b-but he trended on twitter!" 10k tweets on twitter is not a global spotlight on this case. You are on kiwi too much and we all care and discuss whats going to happen to chris, but nobody else is, he is forgotten and nobody is looking him up, the most they will do is post a meme gif vomit when they hear his verdict.

20-50 weens calling for him is... certainly weird, but if you imagine that every prisoner with a family has at least 2-3 people call about them... and then project that theres hundreds of people in lockup. It's just not that big a deal.

I won't "celebrate," but I'll derive immense satisfaction from a guilty verdict, and the harshest possible sentence for Chris. He is a genuine public nuisance of long standing, and he is morally (though not psychologically) insane. He repeatedly raped an elderly woman, and although she is a repulsive and irritating creature herself, she didn't deserve that. Chris needs to be removed from society.
I plan to have a party and have a drink! (of orange soda with my cum in it. Can't lose it, I want to have kids!)

READ. THE FAQ.
That's good advice for any actual human reading this thread, but you're telling it to someone who is either missing chromosomes or has extra ones. He won't understand what you're saying. Because he's fucking retarded. Everyone else should definitely read that post though, it's the best legal commentary you can get for free on an autist forum.

I have to agree with the autistic lawyer that I would personally gladly take jury duty, but unless I lied I would be immediately struck for cause.

And unlike normies, actually attending a trial in person as a juror would definitely benefit me.

For most normies, though, it's just a sudden giant dent in their income in a time when many people are a paycheck or two from homelessness.
