So I've recently been introduced to this ShyLily by some friends

Seems like a "What If..?" or a what-could-have-been version of Senzawa + boing-boings if she didn't reincarnate as a shork.

One and a half year ago everyone was calling Artia Judas. She was more hated than Kiara or Mori ever were, and for a good reason; she was a backstabbing snake. It's just unbelievable that someone with so much awareness of Vtubing as Pippa would still respect her. She also works with Depressed Nousagi, whose crowning work was a documentary that explained the Coco Taiwan incident and how Artia was a major player in the conflict.

Artia was Pippa's oshi which might explain why she is/was less hostile towards her despite being a cunt. For someone who spergs and cums everywhere for Pippa, you don't seem to know the most basic shit when it comes to her.

I consider Ame to be my oshi. That said as more time passes the less and less I watch her. In part also the fact that she seems to be one of the main pillars holding EN together just elevates that admiration I have for her. I am not her member nor have I bought any of her merch but in a way I don't feel the need to do so.


Other than Ame, Pippa is the shitty moldy girl which I probably watch the most. The first Vtuber I joined membership and the first Vtuber I have donated to. What appeals to me the most about her is that for all intents and purposes she didn't really have any talent that made her stand out. For all intents and purposes, she is not the best singer, or gamer.
Yet here she is, possibly the most popular member in her company by just being funny and saying weird/dumb shit. She also reminds me of Ame in that she has done a ton of streams that tend to be fairly original and unique and doesn't really rely on gaming or idol to get views. Add to that the fact that it seems she had tried Youtube multiple times and failed horribly (that dinosaur channel is impressive). She has tried and has failed as a content creator but now as a Vtuber she struck gold. That alone makes her story even more endearing. To add to that underdog story, she was absolute dogshit at singing but she started either taking classes to the point where she has started to improve greatly. All of these are reasons why even as a tiny creator, even some of the bigger corpos have noticed her. All of it while completely avoiding being a coomtuber.

Hell, I almost exclusively clip her content, and while I had originally started clipping because Phase Connect had a contest going on and it gave me an excuse to pick up basic video editing, which I had wanted to learn (I'm still pretty basic) I kept doing it because of a few comments from people saying that they subbed to the rabbit because they saw the Overwatch clip. To this day, that clip is still my favorite video. While the Rabbit steers the ship and does most of the work, it's always nice to know that in a small way I have helped her get a few subs in. In some weird way it's just a small thing that gives me purpose and keeps my mind busy so that I don't fall into depression.

On an also somewhat related note Liora Walkyrie hit 10k subs the other day. I stopped watching shortly after joining her membership due to Korea timezones but shes pretty great. She got 5k subs in 1 month which is pretty big considering she's a smaller indie and from what I have seen, she hasn't really reached out and collabed with others. She did get about 800 subs on the day of her Swimsuit outfit reveal.

Going to just throw this behind spoilers because I wouldn't say I have an end all be all singular Oshi, just a bunch of people I regularly watch and enjoy so this will be lengthy.

HoloJP - Suisei, Towa, and Watame I follow basically anything music related they work on and catch streams when I'm able. Polka and Subaru are both regular watches for me for streams as well Subaru's genuine interest in checking out new things is fantastic and how engrossed she gets in the stories of things she gets into vibes well with me. Polka I think just in spite of her own doubts is just a gifted natural entertainer and her and Subaru share a trait in that they'll put themselves out there and interact with the EN girls just ignoring the language barrier Lui as well would be in that category and my favorite of holoX.

HoloID - Moona and Kaela are easy picks here with Reine deserving an honorable mention as well. Generally relaxed vibes to their streams (early Ollie screaming and Kobo Kusogaki filter me hard, Ollie has improved over time though) Moona and Reine as well both being great in the music department as well, interested to see what Kaela can offer in that department someday.

HoloEN - Kronii and Calli are probably my most watched (Have Calli playing in the background right this moment in fact) Good voices, somewhat more relaxed streams Enjoy Calli's music and awkward humor, that humor, and self depreciation also being a common vein for Kronii as well.

Holostars - Roberu an obvious choice, his personality and how he bounces off others is top notch. Astel as well gets a spot here because dear lord his singing voice is fantastic. Holding off on putting the EN stars here for now because they're still fresh but definitely looking promising.

NijiJP - Kanae I think has one of the better dynamics with his viewers and almost anyone he collabs with, him and Hoshikawa collabing is always enjoyable. Nui Sociere, This one isn't too complicated, she has a strong tendency toward playing JRPGs which I'm a sucker for, really it's as simple as that. Chigusa and Ange Katarina as well I think get an honorable mention here, enjoy their humor and Ange's voice is just nice as well.

NijiID - Used to watch a ton of Hana but once the 2020 boom really got into full swing I found myself falling off and just finding that there were others filling what used to be her niche. Bonbon will forever be a wholesome bro though and I still catch his stuff when I'm able. Radjiman also gets a mention here for his singing voice being god tier.

NijiKR - Lee Roha always gets top spot here for me because of her piano streams. Ban Hada is also really enjoyable.

NijiEN - Pomu and Elira being my two favorites with Rosemi being a close 3rd. Pomu's MGS playthroughs being a major highlight of this year for vtuber stuff, and similar to Subaru earlier Pomu is the type to quickly get very invested in story making her a lot of fun to watch. Elira just has great audience interaction/banter. Rosemi, its a weird one to explain because this won't sound like a compliment, but that girl is just too stupid to actually exist and I often find myself wondering how she is still even alive, but it's somehow endearing? Good humor and does well with taking her own retardation in stride.

Other - going to just kind of rattle off a list here because this is getting autistically long. Pikamee, Tomoshika (underrated) , Tenma (only phase member I watch), Ironmouse, Kson, and lastly an independent music duo Cocotsuki which recently retired though my favorite of the duo Kasane will be continuing solo.

And that's that I suppose, there's of course plenty other I like but those listed here are ones that I would say I "keep up with what they're doing" and if I'm looking for something to watch they're where I'll go looking first.

I was going to list my multiple favorites across every corpo and even did a write-up but I'll keep it short and sweet.

Ame and Ina. Ame, I love how creative she is and how supportive she is of the rest of Holomems. Her interactions with HoloJP are adorable too. I also love her gremlin side.

Ina, I love how chill her streams are. Her puns are on point too. I love how much of a dork Ina is.

Fauna, IRyS and Mumei are my other favorites.
Kaela has quickly risen among the list of my favorite vtubers.

I'm the threads Ayame autist. Her consistency issues for the last year + 1/2 not withstanding, she's a sweetheart who could give Ina a run for her pun queen title with an underrated singing voice which a lot of western fans finally seem to have noticed at the last big live show. Gets endearingly too into rants about whatever anime she's currently watching (especially Precure) + her zatsus and superchat tangents are usually very interesting or funny. Also actually pretty decent at most games, not quite Aqua/Towa levels of FPS but she was consistently pretty high ranked in Apex until she dropped it for Valorant.
Hasn't mentioned it recently but she was also studying some computer thing which is neat (she finds debugging fun so is clearly insane).

If the relative who died recently was her grandmother then there's a chance she goes back to her debut-start of 2021 schedule of 2-3 streams a week since looking after her is/was a big part of why she doesn't stream often

Niji I'd have to say Enna, barely beating out Shiishii who is very chill + has a good show with Okayu. Blue bird wins mostly due to her swearing tirades being fucking hilarious and god tier singing.

Fauna - As I've stated, her saccharine appearance is completely deceptive to her true nature. Much smarter than she lets on, super deep internet knowledge with high level power level suppression. And semi decent gamer skills.
Watson - I was there for #AmeBeliever. Has proved herself to be the leader and probably most valuable member of Myth. I hope when she steps back from streaming, she gets a strong management role.
Selen - giggle dragon. razor sharp wit. Actually good gaming skills. Unbelievable gap moe with her IRL tastes.
Pomu - Everyone loves Pomu
Pippa - Been watching her with you guys since she barely hit 100 CCV. Crazy to watch our little mold girl grow up to nearly hitting 1k CCV sometimes. I can't wait for the big day our girl grows up into a 4-view vtuber.

Ironmouse - How in the hell did I forget her? I consider mouse the exemplar of what it means to be a vTuber. If there's someone I use as an example of what the medium of vTubing can accomplish, I will always point to her first. She took an absolute shit hand that was dealt to her and played the fuck out of it into being one of the top female streamers on Twitch. And she's super entertaining too, not just a lame sob story. God I love Mousey.

I'm really digging a lot of the Phase talent recently however, and have been digging into quite a few others - Lumi, Shiina, and Airi especially.

Amazing comedic timing, fantastic emotion-filled singing voice, incredible entertainer that repeatedly hits you with whiplash from being one moment adorable and the next having you wondering just what the actual fuck is going on in her mathematically-challenged brain.

One aspect that I truly appreciate from her is that when she takes a break and unplugs, she does it properly. She goes out, touches some fucking grass. Shovels poop at those animal shelters and whatnot. Not being chronically online on Twitter and whatever social medias, which is simply great even if you don't get to hear a lot about what she's doing.

I do hope she'll overcome some of her anxiety about doing collabs with the girls outside of HoloEN, but yes, I'll always look forward to her streams(whenever those happen these days.), and as always, will be watching her career with great interest.

Shes alright. Shes big on the coomer pandering, whether that's good or bad I'll leave that up to you but imo she goes overboard with it at times

I'm not much of a fan of fish vtubers, I find the fish features to be too pronounced. Shylilys tail and orca face is too weird for me. Same with guras tail, just feels like its overboard.

I’d have expected a huge Elden Ring fan like you to be into Ina.

Short version for me: IRyS #1 because she got me into the rabbit hole. She’s hilarious (whether trying to be or not) and her singing is amazing. Mumei next, because her sense of humor is also great, and her singing (when she is confident) is amazing too ( I caught her doing Defying Gravity tonight when I was on break at work, she seemed more confident than the other times I’ve heard her do it and it was great). Basically I started both of them by being brought in by personality, but then a certain song or something hit and gave me that ‘wow’ factor to pull me in even further.

I don’t like talking about sappy emotional stuff, but they’ve both got that going for them too; IRyS really does get the short end of the stick a lot where things just don’t go her way or get delayed/cancelled constantly, and Mumei does have confidence issues, but that just makes me want to root for them even more. And the overall extreme social awkwardness of both of them is relatable.

The people watching your "anime girl plays games" content and writing maros are not some romance movie protagonist who just needs a haircut and a pat on the back. These boys were born with a broken spirit, they have no male role models, they do not have passion. The gulf between them and "just be confident, make more friends, be passionate" is so massive and deep it's indescribable in words. These are men your brain has evolved to screen out of your vision. Their voice creates a fight or flight response. No amount of moisturizing face wash or a cute dog is going to help this.

Miko - because she was the one of the first who got into the vtuber scene. Genuinely, an entertaining individual and truly a comedian. One of the best in hololive for sure.

Ame - I just like her personality and is the one who did a lot of the groundbreaking stuff with Myth and En in general. She has gremlin energy that I love. I know some people find her boring and she is relatively shy in collabs and see Kiara as the leader of En but I think she's the glue that holds Hololive En together. An innovator and a leader.

Gura - All of her streams are relatively good just because of her. She really knows how to interact with the chat and make the chat feel involved. High energy. Can sing her ass off.

Pikamee - Just cute. For me, she is the bridge between JP and EN's comedy. Her misunderstanding of english puns and jokes never gets old. Her horror and GTA streams are a blast.

Also just watching a bit of Tenma. She is becoming a favorite of mine as well.

I said during Sana's graduation day why Sana felt like she was truly mine, but since she graduated...
I'd say now then it's Marine. She's crazy multitalented, a great singer, a great artist, with a banging design and a personality that knows how to bring it out fully and make everything about herself shine. She's a true show-woman, and she feels like what comes closest to being an 'idol' without any of the seiso bullshit that brings the concept of that stuff down for me. Unison is also a total banger.

But the little drunk fox that could is really rising up in stocks in my head lately. I adore Tenma.

In retrospect...

Pippa wants to learn Chinese. It's ok to learn new languages, and Cantonese is fine with me. But if she's ever going to pander to the mainland then she is no longer based in my eyes and dropping her. Kson already mindbroke me enough as is and I just wanted to protect her from the same fate.

That's quite the stretch.

Learning a language doesn't necessarily equate into pandering to the people who speak the language. And China has already garnered quite a terrible reputation in the Vtubing sphere that I'd highly doubt anyone sane enough would try to pander to them. Just because I'm learning English doesn't mean I'd pander to westerners. It's fun to learn new languages and in this case I learned English to put words onto paper in a way that I cannot replicate with my mother tongue.

So I've recently been introduced to this ShyLily by some friends

Seems like a "What If..?" or a what-could-have-been version of Senzawa + boing-boings if she didn't reincarnate as a shork. What are the thread's thoughts about her though and is she worth to watch?

Shes alright. Shes big on the coomer pandering, whether that's good or bad I'll leave that up to you but imo she goes overboard with it at times

I'm not much of a fan of fish vtubers, I find the fish features to be too pronounced. Shylilys tail and orca face is too weird for me. Same with guras tail, just feels like its overboard.

There is very little I know related to Shylilly but from what I have seen she panders really hard to the coomer crowd. I do love her voice, and i think her model is really cute but the coomer aspect filters me hard. But she gets about 4k CCV on Twitch and a shitload of tips so I can't say I blame her for it. Seems that every Vtuber on Twitch is just going for the coomerbait. Vtubing at the top is the new Hot-Tub meta.

On a somewhat related note some OTK dude is doing a game-show type stream on Twitch and I got a clip that had a few vtubers on it. Snuffy was there and wtf am I looking at?
