I was thinking of taking a road trip there, but I had nothing to contribute other than "yes, good". I think a lot of people did, and that's why there were more troons than normies there.

I'm interested in seeing where all this goes: if they can actually get a ban off the ground several states will jump on, mostly red ones but maybe even some purple or blue ones depending on how the needle falls.

I'm also wondering what happened to that poor kid the mom was speaking about: why did the kid commit suicide? That's not a positive favor of trans treatment if the child got it but still killed themsleves. :(

Glad to see they are protesting the lives claimed by the transgender movement. I agree we need greater restrictions on hormones and surgeries so more lives aren't destroyed. It is truly tragic what happens to people once they assume the trans identity, represented by the flags here.

Dear god, can you imagine a world where gender affirming care for teens is banned? It is literally unimaginable to think of a society without commonplace gender-affirming medicine for children. It's funny how much disconnect there is between institutions that are trying to launder transgenderism using the idea of "trans kids," and how much actual grassroots support you see.

I've attended protests that have gathered hundreds or thousands of people with much shorter notice, and zero media attention beforehand. The "trans kids" crowd has been begging people to turn up for weeks, and it looks like it was almost all either trans people or their immediate relatives who felt obliged.

One of the organizing groups touted on Twitter that "hundreds" were there, which if you know anything about how these groups always represent their turnout, passerby and the media may have outnumbered the protest.

They were the outsized majority in the audience for the actual hearing, which isn't strange for such hearings, probably because nobody else on Earth gave a shit about this and they were all screaming on Twitter for days how everyone needed to get there to stop the Genocide. A bunch of troons were touting how "everyone" at the meeting was against it yet the board ignored them and did it anyway.

Ari and Tony think that the "equal protection clause" in the Constitution* should protect giving something off label for a different usage that has no scientific support because it's used on label for a completely different usage where it's been proven to work? While I think this is dumb, I'd be glad to follow this but I'm not sure setting such a precedent is going to make Ari and Tony (nor the 142 likes) very happy in the long run. (Especially with six Republican appointees on the Supreme Court.)

I'm speaking from a criminological sociology context, since that's closer to what I study, but in my experience, there's really no way to prove a negative in these types of situations. In disciplines like statistics, you can replace a null hypothesis with an alternative hypothesis because math is objective and we can calculate the confidence we can have that a certain event will occur deterministically, so different people using the same equation will all come to the same conclusion if they did everything right. In sociology, it doesn't really work like that. You can't prove that a group of peoples' actions are NOT being caused by something, you can only fail to prove that their actions ARE being caused by something. When Tony says a (fundamentally flawed and biased) study proves kids are not taking part in a social contagion, he means to say that the study did not find enough evidence to prove that they are. But given that 40% of school kids today identify as some flavor of gay when in previous generations it was only about 5% at most, we can obviously draw our own conclusions.
