Is it like all progressives are activist but not all activists are progressives?

The racial component is interesting because I ve read about how the dem party used to have white union managers types and then they opened it up to more people of color and turns out losing members of the "managerial class" can hurt the ability of a group to organize.

The activists from my gen were mostly Dem moderates - the ones I refer to as the Oldster dem class. You also had a few outliers - some of the saner Progressives of the era who were less grievance studies and more social safety net supporters. They were usually in it because they wanted to help, with many of them starting as local activists under their own home towns or villages (this is how I got started). You also had a few centrist dems who were more pragmatic, a few libertarian types, and while you'd never hear about it anywhere else, a few former Repubs who joined up because they hated the Neocons and liked what we were offering at the time.

It was a really diverse group when it comes to viewpoint, you may see. Because it was mostly localized, we were able to take the best aspects of the different platforms and the other parts of the whole would generally keep the crazier parts from spiralling to far out of control. Generally. This was politics after all, retardation is a bygone conclusion. But this was an era where we could go at it with a religious fundamentalist and stand a better than break-even chance of getting them to see some of our points, and maybe even find some common ground.

The newcomers who supplanted us were a mix as well - a mix of hard-left activists, and above all others, neoprogressives - whereas the oldschool progressives were more the Jacksonian flavor, these clowns are the ones you're more familiar with now - the stereotypical screeching intersectionalist, the equally-stereotypical activist demaning to speak for groups of people who'd much rather they fuck off - you know the types. When they made their main powerplay in 2008, the very first ones they went after were the Repubs allied with us, followed by their older Progressive cousins, who they saw as insufficiently "down with the cause." They did all of this because in their eyes, someone who believes in the party line is inherently more moral than anyone who even tangentially dissents, with no other considerations given. Needless to say, the bulk of the rest of the holdouts bled out soonafter, either because they fucked off in disgust or were exiled for being insufficiently supplicative.

I can absolutely 100% confirm this. A dude I worked with for almost half a decade confided in me that he - someone who I quite literally canvassed with and had dogs sicced on me once with, who could get entire fucking neighborhoods out to vote - had been, after nearly 20+ years, replaced by someone who quite literally had no understanding of the district and whose first action was shutting down outreach efforts because they weren't reaching enough people of color.

In districts that are basically 100% white and/or hispanic.

there are no sadder tales than incompetents replacing competents and running perfectly functioning things into the ground because it didn't appease niggers enough

The plan right now to circumvent that is to desperately find charges that they can use to arrest and convict Trump or at least, raise enough of a legal quagmire that they can bullshit an excuse to disqualify Trump from running again.

Plan b to that, is to basically try their best to pander to Ronnie D's ego to get him to primary Trump and pray he wins and fracture the MAGA vote, especially if Trump gets pissy and runs as a third party.

Razorfist hinted at the possibility of doing a video on Lincoln, from what little I see of his Twitter he'll usually mention a topic on his feed long before he does a rant on it. I'd be curious to see what he thinks Lincoln should've done instead or how he could've accomplished the same goals but better.

There are 2 reasons that have at least some degree of validity:

1. Desantis is Trump without the baggage. The general public is retarded enough that they have more of an instinctive negative reaction to Trump and his name, rather than what he actually represents.
2. Desantis isn’t an old man. Especially if Biden croaks while in office, Trump being around that same age WILL be used against him, especially if his Dem opponent is significantly younger.

Of course as has been said there is pretty much zero chance he runs unless Trump can’t.
