General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

Compared to yesterday today's even more of a one-sided massacre...I thought Leos vs Saku Round 1 was bad, but not Ib's 0-16 Kuzuha bad. And with how Nui vs. Shiina is going it might get even worse. This is hard to watch, really proving that good pitchers + speed meta runners really are the way with this game.

Update: Nui ended 1-15 to Shiina, absolutely murdered

IRyS has a genuine gambling problem.
Quoting myself to add a tweet to prove myself even more correct, this was ~1 and a half hours after she stopped gambling in Rust, nearly 7 am JP time: 1660368198148.png

Granted I do not have the personal attachment to anyone involved, but I don't get why the Koshien thing is always such a big deal? It's AI playing baseball, and yes I know that the vtubers managed the teams themselves to raise their stats and what-not, but there's also that fact that baseball on it's own is a really boring sport.

It's not even a tribal thing; if HoloEN had been the ones to do this exact same thing, I'd probably watch it begrudgingly, leaving it on in the background as I do other stuff, but I wouldn't be hyped up for it like people always are for this event.

Long story short, I don't understand why watching AI play baseball would be even remotely enjoyable, outside of having an attachment to the characters and commentators. (As a contrast, I do understand the interest in WWE AI-fight streams, because watching people be hit in the crotch and what-not is always funny, and the models are more interesting and funny on their own.)

Maybe if it were Base Wars on the NES I could be swayed...

Have you ever heard the term "Fear of Missing Out"? That's basically what it is

Yeah, it was always going to be about which of Nijisanji High School vs. Godspeed High School would win their match.

Shiishii is literally the progenitor of the Koshien event and participates every year so she has a lot of Eikan Nine practice under her belt. Whoever wins between Kuzuha and Shiishii will probably take the tournament unless Lize causes a big upset.

Pippa might expose her true form, and she's never seen a live podcast like Joe Rogan? Also, learn to use the shift key woman.

Baseball IRL is boring as shit, but PowerPro somewhat made it a lot more fun to watch with how fast the matches tend to be and the little special turning points throughout the game. I don't even watch sports normally and I feel tired after a game because of how many close runs there are in a single match. Also High School baseball is a very big deal in Japan, so people relate to the frustrations with their own experiences.

I do admit that it's mostly just about the livers who put in a lot of effort and feel very strongly about the event. I will probably watch paint dry if a liver/talent feel strongly enough about it to spend 20+ hours of their life ensuring its the best paint drying ever. For Japanese people Baseball screams "youth", and I think recapturing that essence of youth is what Nijisanji is all about. Once you see what it's about you can't help but get serious about it as well.

From a Hololive listener perspective I would compare it to the Hololive Summer Minecraft minigame tournaments but on a larger scale. It's just really scuffed minecraft minigames that barely work most of the time, but everyone try so hard that you don't want to be an asshole about it.

Good timing for this: 7th Inning Match 3 is extremely heated, Shiishii made a come back with a 5 runner and it's now up to Ib to take his lead back and win the round, this is what NijiKoushien is about...
anddddddddd Nina just destroyed my hopes that Ib will win lol, but the frustration is part of the fun as well

Artemis would be a good example of why good model=success.... if he hadn't dropped off the face of the earth for being fucking boring and basically only having the "IM GAY" shtick. Also a lot of people seem to forget that he got so popular because: 1. Good model, 2. Rode on gura's popularity at the time, 3. He knew a bunch of people and did a ton of networking and social media promotion before debut

Probably because baseball is really popular in japan also one of the best baseball player in the world is Japanese if i remember correctly.

I find it boring.

The large scale is what makes it perplexing. The Minecraft tournament is what one day? I don't think viewership is that high either (but I could be wrong since I didn't really bother with it).

I'll watch baseball and Nijisanji JP from time to time and I just don't see the appeal.

Shohei Ohtani is a once in a century two-way player. He hits and pitches at an all-star level but is not the best at either one. Before him Ichiro Suzuki was the best contact hitters and one of the best outfielders in the game. Both of them are national heroes in Japan.

I just saw this animation of Ayame (great art style and story btw) and checked her current streaming data (great visualization of stream times from here). Her last stream on her channel was exactly 2 months ago and as I can see this is a new "record" frim her. Her break in April/May this year was a little under 2 months long. She did some official streams and promos but I really wonder what her plan is and what is going on behind the scenes.
She does seem a little more touchy than usual:

It's hype. It taps into the emotions that people get out of competitive sports and ties them into Nijisanji. It's not really anything that is scientifically explainable, it's just fun to see something like the match that just happened, in which Nui's team despite being severe underdogs nearly beat Kuzuha's.

It's a bit like if Hololive Minecraft Festival was tied to something like, idk, March Madness.

She did seem happier and less volatile with having Reine or EN around her. Given her past struggles, having a birdfriend or an EN living with her wouldn't be the worst thing. Who knows if it's being alone, or something else making her prone to raging on Twatter at drive-bys lately.
I will chock it up to her not getting enough sleep and frustrations of her finding a location for her to film her dancing. She did seem happy when she post the "I'm not a chicken food truck," on her Kiara profile, She probably cool down after going for a walk and probably asleep after.

because the vtuber/streamer they like watch/play it,thats the main reason,i'll probably will watch a pekora apex stream because theres a high chance that pekora will pull something interesting/funny from that boring game, but again, its not the game, its the one who play it,but baseball ill still probably skip it,because i never interested to that sport my entire life,i probably can count how many times i played baseball long time ago,its just japanese thing, the whole baseball thing,i don't see other western vtuber played anything about baseball so far.

Don't want to tribalfag, but the Holo Minecraft events are the only time we can have people from different branches interact with each other, especially for those that is rarely doing it like Gura

I'm not a big baseball fan but it's hard not to get invested in Koshien, especially now that EN is much bigger and there's more people to get hyped with.

It started out as a dumb project for Shiishii and Tenkai to play some PowerPro and has turned into this colossal event with major sponsorship deals. The fan art tag is absolutely insane with big industry artists and V-Tuber illustrators getting in on it, and it's easy to root for a team based on your favourite members because absolutely all of them (except those who aren't active) are part of it.

The month-long Eikan Nine series creates anime-esque side stories for fans to get invested in: such as Mayuzumi Kai's farewell to the company, or Salome's god-tier pitching etc. Last year had Pomu Rainpuff hit a game-winning Home Run in the finals a day before the real Pomu returned from surgery.

Now with the rise of EN, there's 25K-ish people all sat together watching Luca and Alban argue with Selen and Enna as their characters play against one another. Shit's just fun to participate in. Ultimately if you're not interested in the game then that's the beginning and end of it, but it's not hard to see why the community band together around it.
