Normally it's children going NC with their parents. It takes some pretty bad behavior for a parent to cut ties with their child. I knew a guy once who said he was convinced his son was a total sociopath and that he (and others) was convinced that this kid would eventually end up getting a life sentence (he's had several minor sentences). He was very matter of fact about it, but he clearly still loved his son and didn’t cut him out of his life entirely.

There’s so, so much to unpack here. Chronically unemployed HSTSs, failed relationships, dating while still legally married to his trans widow, self-diagnosed autism and disabling IBS (lol), mental illness on multiple fronts, and an especially hilarious 3 day inpatient psych hold due to 2020 election (orange mad bad and clearly coming to murder this poor NEET troon personally). I just want to add that IBS is, by far, the mildest tummy hurty disease someone could possibly be diagnosed with. It's basically the medical term for 'we agree you have some mild digestive problem, but we don't know why'. If it were truly debilitating, then he'd have been 'upgraded' to a different diagnosis (IBD, crohn's, colitis, celiac, etc). It's very common for someone to start out with an IBS/IBD diagnosis that changes after testing. Severity of inflammation can be easily measured by blood tests and endoscopy.

(Gut inflammation diseases are weird, they're diagnosed by location of inflammation and the severity.)

Let this be a lesson to her. (Most) Parents love their children unconditionally, but they're still human beings with boundaries. This girl is old enough to know that her mother is her own fucking person, not just her mother. She hurt her mom's feelings and crossed the line, and her mom has every right to step away momentarily. The best thing she can do is give her mom some space and offer her a heartfelt apology when she's ready to come home.

When I was 14 or 15, my parent forced me into my first tattoo. I was super gung ho about it, as any new teen would be, and eagerly accepted anything that would be tattooed on me. It ended up being some flash from the wall that my mom had pointed to.

I remember going to bed that night and I started crying. I cried because after all the adrenaline and "this is so cool" thoughts wore off, I thought about how it's there forever and it wasn't even something I necessarily picked myself. Yeah I wanted a body mod and yeah I was stoked as shit to have a parent endorse it, but that gut feeling of "this isn't what I want..." crept up on me when I was alone in my bedroom.


I can't help but relate that experience to these kids who are getting surgeries and drugs. Of course they're going to be fucking pumped while their brain is biologically wired to be Impulsive. Of course having a parent endorse it is going to make them think that it's the right decision.

I wonder how many of them spend the first night alone, either after surgery or when they finally feel the effects of hormones, and just feel regret.

I can get my tattoo covered but they can't reverse the damage that they had done while an adult supported their pubescent whims

I'm guessing they feel the same but it is conveniently blamed on "post surgical depression", medicine side effects, being a moody teen, etc
The gas lighting never stops with these people and unlike with your tattoo, there are huge social pressures outside the family to continue the abuse. It is truly horrible to watch.

It does take a mild amount of effort to get that diagnosis (maybe 2-3 visits to a gp?). I just wonder why he wouldn't claim to have at least IBD if it's made up. IBS is like...a spring allergies level of disorder.
