Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

Is puppetry live action or animation? I consider it animation but yea Dont Hug Me Im Scared’s I guess second season is coming out in september. I have mixed feelings. I think it could be really good but im also of the opinion that DHMIS ended perfectly and this will come off like milking it

I did not know that was still a thing. It reminded me of how I realized that asdfmovie is still an ongoing thing, and look how it's going.

For the first few years im on the showrunner’s side, making a show kids love and people on the internet act is terrible would be really frustrating. However i heard theyre still doing episodes responding to internet critics and now im not on their side. I feel like they shouldve enjoyed the W and lived their best life

Another thing is people complain that show changed from the “original”, but the original comics were wildly different and fans of those didnt like that. Perspective is always key

Dreamworks just randomly announced a fourth Kung-Fu Panda film for 2024. That's the same year as Sonic 3 and the third Spider-Verse film.

Quite unexpected, but not bad otherwise. I enjoyed the third movie, but I was otherwise disappointed with it, especially compared to the first two. Here's hoping the fourth is sorta better.
That's the common consensus IIRC. Not bad, but not a patch on the first two. I also never bothered with the TV show and I've heard a lot of mixed things about the recent one on Netflix.

I don't pay attention to most of DreamWorks' animated shows outside of the likes of Penguins of Madagascar, so maybe that's a good thing I'm not missing too much.

Started watching inside job, it's ok even if you can't tell if the people who made it are making fun of conspiracy theorists or not. (it's a stretch considering drama cow poliitisperg Alex Hirsch is involved) It's better than most Netflix adult animation these days tends to be. Could have gone without the references to things like godzilla 2000 (like they show it blu ray and everything like a fucking product placement) the geico gecko and smash bros. That's really a pet peeve of mine. Writer's /animators shoe horning in references to things they most likely obsessed over as kids (or still do as adults)

I am still unsure I should give Inside Job a chance. I remember watching trailers of it and it looked like a clone of Venture Bros., American Dad, Futurama or Archer.

for libshit CalArts it's probably the best, but its also peak woke. Lots of "jokes" about mental health, creepy sex jokes, rants about toxic masculinity and white privilege. it's basically if the Venture Bros got filtered through Big Mouth.

That explains the biggest reason why it's a good thing I missed out. Most modern adult animated cartoons are basically the same copy-paste bullshit, as with every other animated show in this day and age.

Primal and Smiling Friends hold up, the first because Tartakovsky is a master animator, and the second because Zach Hadel and Michael Cusack are hilarious and not full woke.

The opening alone was peak kino.
Best part of the show. Raptors were the second best part with their Three Stooges dynamic.

Sadly.

Last adult cartoon I remember watching and enjoying was Mike Tyson Mysteries as it was dumb fun.
You can't go wrong with Mike Tyson sounding like he's reading his lines for the first time and struggling to understand what the Hell is going on and the late, great, Norm MacDonald as a perverted, alcoholic, pigeon, who gave no shits who he offends.

While I agree the art style has some calarts to it, and a few jokes that were cringey the sex jokes where rather tame (not that they still have them). The worst it got was the lizard people episode and even then it never showed any actual nudity. The show never shows any nudity whereas Big mouth shoves it at us every chance it gets. There was like one reference to toxic masculinity in the episode with the mi6 spy coupled with one use of the word mansplaining, and I can't recall a single white private joke. It's better than the usual brand of Netflix dribble if on a scale of big mouth to F is for family I'd say inside job is in the middle.

I agree there but like i said while it's not as good as F is for family (really glad that show ended when it was good enough) Or close enough (sad to see that one cut down by the hbo discovery debacle) If you pointed a gun to my head and gave me a choice of watching big mouth or Inside Job I'd pick Inside Job if only cause it's the lesser of two evils.
