Powerlevel on the topic of people with height dysphoria breaking their legs to wind up with longer legs. I broke my femur as a kid and wound up with the ends of the bone overlapping as it healed, so it had to be lengthened in a similar way. The pins and bar contraption that stabilized the bone got cranked apart to pull the knitting pieces of femur apart week by week. I would cry and beg to not have to go to the appointments, then I'd cry at the appointments because it hurt and my mom would cry because I was in pain. I was around 12 so it wasn't a little kid tantrum at having to go to the doctor. The pin sites got infected because they were open wounds. I have painful scar tissue at the pin sites and that leg still ended up short enough that 20+ years on, I need a lift in that shoe to prevent hip pain, which is not a big deal except for shit like sandals. People who'd undergo that shit on both legs out of vanity or the pursuit of gender euphoria are insane. SRS is obviously also nuts, but this is an appropriated procedure I actually have experience with, and that shit sucked.

I'm going to take a wild guess, just talking out my ass, as someone with zero knowledge of the field, and say that maybe those types of doctors (in the US, anyway) aren't the same kind of monsters. It seems that different areas of medicine that require (or don't require) different types of training and certification, and are involved with different populations, attract (and form) different types of doctors.
Give it another decade. Surely the ones still learning to specialize in it right now will be ready to market to troons (and the wave of proto-transhumanists on the horizon) soon enough.

It is done extensively in many Asian countries, especially China due to the shorter height that Asians have as a racial phenotype, and so many rich Asians get leg-lenghtening surgery to be taller to appear "successful" like their Western counterparts.

That is still not as bad as surgery to shrivel your calf muscle or resection your feet to fit into smaller shoes, which many Asian women gravitate towards.

It's not so crazy actually, because these devices are created for treatment.
Ilizarov apparatus for example, used for normal healing of the leg. Or to equalize the length of the legs to avoid scoliosis etc.
It's insane that patients ask to be operated on for the sake of beauty. and it's crazy that doctors do these surgeries.
Now for the sake of gender, lol, and if in the matter of beauty everyone agrees that it's crazy: breaking legs for being an inch taller. But if it's for the sake of gender dysphoria, then oooh, yes of course. Troon will die without it.
