Clearly, this picture is literally objectifying and commodifying women. There are many pictures in the background of female anime characters, some of which are highly sexualized. Some are even fully nude. These women are also young, conventionally attractive, and hyper feminine. They were clearly created for the assumed male gaze (Berger 51). The fan in this picture paid for those posters, thus supporting the hegemonic norms of beauty with his beliefs and money. Even though the pictures are drawn, they still are conveying the beauty ideals that society expects of real women.

He got a cardboard cut-out of the wolf goddess Holo and took her on a journey through Asia. Along the way, the couple stopped to take pictures at lots of landmarks, such as the Great Wall of China and the Merlion in Bali.

This guy must be pretty confident to take all the strange looks from other people, but hey, it looks like they had fun. Hopefully it doesn't get awkward when he shoves her in his suitcase on the ride home.
