Summary: A mod has been released which adds Notorious Homophobic Hate Symbol, the American flag, to the video game Spider-Man (2018 ). DON'T WORRY, the mod author has been banned, and moderators and journalists are working tirelessly to ensure all critics of the ban are silenced.

There are at least a dozen articles being written on the subject right now, and all are equally exceptional. Rather than posting just one, here are a couple for you to enjoy:

Spider-Man fans outraged as new game ‘modded’ to delete LGBTQ+ Pride flags

A mod of Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered that removed LGBTQ+ Pride flags from the game has been taken down.
Spider-Man Remastered, a refreshed version of the 2019 console game, was released on PC on Friday (12 August), and efforts to modify it began almost immediately.
Oftentimes when a game is released on PC, users alter or modify in-game files (which are more easily accessible through PC releases) to make their own custom mechanics or aesthetic changes.

While attempts were predominantly creative and positive in nature, one modder decided to replace all the game’s Pride flags with the American flag.
The mod, named “Non-Newtonian New York”, was quickly inundated with comments, both from anti-LGBTQ+ users looking for a place to vent their homophobia and others who thought the mod was a bigoted mess.
It was eventually removed, presumably due to violating the terms of service of the website host, Nexus Mods, but not before instigating a heated debate about the mod’s existence.
Users who congregated in a dedicated modding Discord server began arguing as to whether the mod should be allowed or not.
Others attempted to create their own files that served the same purpose – all of which have been deleted – with one even saying in its description it aimed to remove the “disgusting agenda” of Pride.

It also labelled Pride flags showcased in the game’s rendition of New York as “unrealistic”, despite the fact Pride was born in Manhattan during the Stonewall riots in 1969.
Some claimed the mod was to balance out a lack of US flags in the game – there are at least eight in the game’s overworld alone. Thankfully, other attempts to defend the mod were quickly banned by the server’s moderation team.

Since then, pro-LGBTQ+ modders have fought back by uploading mods celebrating Pride, including one that replaces the Pride flag with the LGBTQ+ progress Pride flag and another that replaces Spider-Man‘s suit with a Pride-inspired rainbow aesthetic.
Unfortunately, bigoted users have taken to the comments of these pro-LGBTQ+ mods to share more homophobic rhetoric, but they’re being drowned out by fans calling the mods “spectacular”.
Originally released for the Playstation 4 in 2018, Spider-Man Remastered’s inclusion of Pride memorabilia, including the iconic Stonewall Inn, had LGBTQ+ fans jumping for joy.

Comic book writer Saladin Ahmed took to Twitter to commend the decision to add Pride flags, saying: “Thinking about all the 12-year-old kids who will be playing this game and seeing this in towns where it’s not safe to put that flag up.”
One of the most acclaimed parts of the game was its amazingly immersive overworld, set in a modern-day Manhattan. Considering the city’s association with Pride, bringing the rainbow to the streets of New York is about as realistic as it gets.

Spider-Man Remastered Modder Banned For Removing Pride Flag

Another one of Sony's big titles has launched on PC, allowing a whole new portion of players to enjoy what was previously a PlayStation exclusive, and providing PC modders with additional fodder. But a new mod for Spider-Man Remastered sparked outrage and even got the creator banned.

Marvel's Spider-Man, which was remastered for PS5, is now available on the PC with goodies such as DLSS, ray-tracing, and ultra-wide screen support all included, while modders took next to no time in creating mods for it. One mod for the game however has been called out for its homophobia and toxic comments.

Uploaded to Nexus Mods early today, the mod in question was called 'Non-Newtonian New York'. This mod removes all the rainbow Pride flags from the game and replaces them with the Stars and Stripes.

The open world used by Spider-Man and Miles Morales is a marvellous recreation of NYC that is filled with Easter Eggs and details that keen-eyed explorers can discover, and which also includes touching tributes to the various communities that inhabit the great city. So players can find several Pride flags adorning town hall buildings throughout the map.

A modder going by the name Mike Hawk (har har) uploaded a mod that replaces the rainbow flags with the American flag. The mod page proceeded to quickly fill up with comments, with haters using the chance to vent homophobia alongside other useless witterings, while others pushed back and called out the homophobic mod.

It's in stark contrast to the spirit of the Spider-Man games, with the protagonists calling out hate groups and being a friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man to every person. Insomniac too has been vocal about supporting Pride Month and Black History Month celebrations, and the games celebrate the diversity of the city it's based in.

The mod appeared online for less than 24 hours, however. Nexus Mods confirmed to We Got This Covered that the 'Non-Newtonian New York' mod has been removed, and that its creator's account (as well as an alt account) have been banned. A spokesperson for the site said that the mod creator "is no longer welcome on Nexus".

Remember, if you see, or suspect, anyone habouring anti-LGBTQ thoughts, be sure to report them!

Goes without saying but please do not download and install this mod unless you are employed by an approved Video Game Journalism Website, and need to write an article about why everybody has to be gay all of a sudden and why censorship is good, actually.

Ah yes Nexus Mods.

The same mod site that will hold my bandwidth hostage and force me to download 5 gigabyte downloads at 1gb per minute because I don't want to use their subscription service.

The same mod site that will shame me for using adblock on their site while their ads actively give viruses or completely lock you out of any control of your computer because of irritating popups.

The same mod site that will aggressively moderate its site and shadowban mods either because of transgressions offsite or because of personal disagreements

The same mod site that allows rampant porn and degeneracy mods but will throw stones at mods like this

I told people that Nexusmods sucked a long time ago, but nobody listened and now we have mod nepotism going on.
The moment I stopped using nexus was when I found the MLP radio station for new vegas.

The older i get the more i hate people and video games. I regret wasting my life playing these things. I hate myself.
It's okay anon,
The game takes place in New York, not Alabama.
Alas, for that ye needs be takin' kids to lofty skyrise apartments in Manhattan and Consuming of them with ye fellow consorts. Islands are so 2019-2020

What alternatives even are there for Nexus? i know there's Steam Workshop but if you pirate your game you cant pirate these mods. Really smart of Valve to let purchasing a game be the entry pass to its mods, because i do buy games just for access to their modding communities.
Should have included it in my last reply but there are sites like this which let you download workshop mods and use them with pirated games, also most games don't use denuvo or any other DRM, just steamworks, which is a pirate's best friend because you can just use goldberg steam emu to bypass it and make mods work. Also you can use programs like radmin vpn to have friends technically be on the same LAN as you, so that's one way you can play pirated games with mods with your friends. I played rimworld with my friend using the multiplayer mod like this. I have the game on steam and he pirated it, used goldberg and shit, it worked.

Nice, i'm not gonna do those side quests if i buy a future port of that game.
Real talk, Miles Morales is a pointless cash grab reusing assets from Spider-Man. If you want your webslinging fix then you already have Spider-Man, it's a completely bizarre sequel that feeds off Marvel fans and their hunger for anything with the red logo on it. It's also half as long and features obnoxious pandering.

Sometimes it's ok to not get a sequel that doesn't really accomplish anything. Unless you're a black kid wanting to project yourself as Miles there's really no real reason why it should exist.

I hate the smarmy little commentors going "Don't like it? Make your own mod site!" because you know that any attempt will have those same cock sucking faggots screaming to deplatform the site.
All over a national flag. Even better, all over a change in code that DOES what the mod does anyway.

I swear, people have nothing to do with their time.

This is their revenge for getting BTFO during GamerGate isn't it? Too bad these faggots don't remember the golden rule of the internet: once on the internet, always on the internet.

Were they BTFO’d during gamer gate?
They all got to keep their jobs.
No one was forced to apologize for anything.
They continue to do the same shit they did back then only now they get to do it openly because gamer gate is a boogie man buzz word.

If anything, they not only won during gamer gate, they learned how to effectively cancel people from it.

It's retarded because those same faggots say "if you don't like it don't watch it/download it". While they then tell people the other one you mentioned "don't like it? Make your own site".

Rimworld is entirely DRM free. I regularly share it with friends, just copy and pasted steam files.
