General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

or relationship because kobo talk about her ex in detail, yes she is ID but still the "hololive" what she talk about.
I don't like to argue about this because it makes me sound like im babying a million-dollar corporation who isn't fucking innocent by any means, but i really feel like hololive is the punching bag of the community, especially the less weeb members, whenever people talk about the bad aspects of vtubing it's always hololive in the crosswire. But i guess that comes with the territory of being the gateway for new western fans that isn't vshojo.

Being big means you have more punches thrown your way. It's why comedians make careers out of dunking on the biggest celebrities. If you want attention you're gonna make fun of, say, Leonardo DiCaprio, not some random local theatre actor. Or why there was a whole genre of anime "analysis" back in the day that just consisted of dunking on SAO.

Go on /vt/ or Twitter and you can find tons of people (lots of them Hololive fans) throwing shit at other companies. So it's not just a one-way street.

They're the big name in the industry, and people love jerking off over underdog stories. They're a Jap company that operates on Japanese business culture, which at times is absolutely retarded, but people refuse to accept that different regions and cultures do things differently, and generally don't have any perspective outside of US/Western European culture. People also really love falling for the "talent freedom" meme, because they haven't actually seen a Hololive stream beyond like 30 seconds of Gura, and for whatever reason assume they all behave like either pure JP idoru uguuu, or nuns.

That's because they're the biggest, and being the biggest means becoming the punching bag of everyone, especially for those jealous of their success and name

I actually really like Kronii but recently she seems bored. Like she's just going through the motions.
This thread's age-range just got exposed.

She seemed no different than any other non-SNOT collab she had done. No worse than Ame and had some moments. Also, I feel like she has been getting better baout seeming bored. Better than after she initially burned out a couple months back, anyway.
She seemed pretty normal for a non-council collab. If I'm gonna armchair it I'd say Kiara is probably a lot to deal with for the more introverted members. She's seemed to have a pretty good time with Bae doing the Digimon streams.

That's just the default what with them being the uncontested biggest Vtuber group currently in the Western industry. Theirs more eyes on them in the general Vtuber community so everyone likes to poke holes and give their input since their the top dog.

Do keep in mind however that Hololive isn't the only one who gets shit thrown their way. I would argue Vshojo as it is currently is the black sheep of Corpo Vtubing. Despite what people say about Hololive as a company not many people actually hate the Vtubers themselves which is a really good thing, can't say the same about certain Vshojo members or even some Nijis like Gundou.

like other said because they are big,its funny because its actually backfire when what they said is wrong, holo can't talk about family, many of them did that, holo can't talk about relationship, kobo talk in details about her ex,not "anime husbando ex" and yeah she didn't get "bonked" for it. where are kobo "Gachikois" malding? nobody mad at it,so those things what silvervale said is wrong.

Eh, maybe within vtuber communities, but the company almost everyone shits on outside the vtuber community is Vshojo. Almost all of the bad stereotypes or assumptions that normies have are based on Vshojo, while Vshojo tries to sell themselves as "not like the other girls".

The Apex Tempus collab somehow turned "NT" into an NTR tangent ft. Astel

Yeah, even Reddit dunks on VShojo. Considering how "yaaaas queen" that site normally is says a lot to me.

Somehow I knew earlier when that Silvervale quote was posted it was going to get nitpicked to the extent that people just miss the point and get defensive over it.

What she said is, generally speaking, true, and not really much of an insult or shot taken at Hololive. it's more just noting a difference.

When the Vtuber boom happened in 2020 in the west, it was more or less Hololive front and center. A lot of western viewers entire idea of what a vtuber is came from hololive (even though in reality hololive's way of doing things isn't representative of the majority of even Japanese vtubers)

What that interview response is saying is just that there was a point of realization of "oh you don't have to do everything like hololive does you can talk about anything without having to make it a big deal or a concern"

like yeah there's some examples of hololive talking about family, or kobo about her ex, but the point being made wasn't "heh we talk about this and they don't" it was "we don't have to worry about talking about that" which, sorry if anyones in denial on that front, but hololive does, every person you've seen have their mom on in hololive probably went through several steps of managerial approval to do so, Kobo's manager probably shit the bed when Kobo talked about her ex, and just imagine the shitshow that would ensue if a JP girl did that. They have their moms on but notice how it's still kept a unicorn sanctuary and no ones ever had their dad on? closest thing might be Matsuri at one point having her littler brother on alongside her mom once.

Either way all that worrying about subject matter, managerial hoops and bureaucracy, that's what Silver's addressing in that comment, If nyanners wants to stream with her bf, she just does, of someone wants to have family members in stream or break the fourth wall of their character setting freely, they just do (and if you think hololive doesn't get told to stick to kayfabe to some extent, I assure you Calli doesn't avoid saying she taught English instead saying "scythe swinging lessons" without there being some kind of instruction to avoid such topics, it's just not in her personality to obfuscate that way without a reason and comes off exactly like the thin vaneer of Demondice talking about her "restaurant job"). Just imagine the meltdown that would occur if one day unannounced and uncleared by her manager, Pekora fired up her stream with a male voice alongside her and she just said "hey guys this is my dad, today we're going to talk about a funny story about him and my ex boyfriend" she'd be put on break from streaming within hours whereas for Vshojo it would just be another Tuesday.

At any rate, It's not a big deal to note those differences between the companies, about the only real criticism I could give for the comparison is that it's usually bad form to name drop that company you're comparing yourself to and she probably should have avoided outright saying Hololive because it sparks things like the discussion happening here taking her as attacking hololive in some way, and it's usually just unwise to do that sort of stuff with companies you may want to work with in the future.

I tuned into Lia streaming that new Cult of the Lamb game. Not only did she think she was streaming for 7 minutes before noticing she hadn't hit the go live button. But she also mentioned that she has been banned from drinking streams. :( Those streams were so funny though...

I don't watch Lia, so I only knew about her drinking streams through the thread. Based solely on that, it's no surprise. We joke about Phase being a sad girl company and all the talents being menhera, but she really takes the cake.
