Well, what did people think would happen when they shilled for Sony to be in control of 100 percent fo the market?
I don’t care what they thought would happen. If the Funimation/American VAs who supported/defended KickVic but got their start fandubbing end up getting blacklisted because their past got uncovered I have only one thing to say:

You get what you fucking deserve.

I'm know I'm late on this, but I just found out about the Rightstuf buyout.

It's bad news all around, but the thing that worries me the most is if this could fuck over the Gundam franchise deal Nozomi has. They have put out a good 99% of the franchise at this point, but there is still work to be done. I'd hate to see it go tits up now.

As for the fandub blacklist, it's sadly where the industry is right now. Sony has a monopoly. It's going to fuck over consumer choice and actors aren't going to be able to just go to another studio. It'll be like the mid 00's with Funimation where just about every dub had the same core cast of voice actors. It'll be extremely hard for new blood to break in.

TLDR: I'm expecting another crash ala 2006 for the industry. Especially if censorship really starts to catch on in the manga half.

Guess Guilty Gear's reveal of Bridget being a troon has now made Nick Twitter famous.

They censored his name but you can still tell it's him because of the Reina avatar and poor censoring. Notice they have 10k retweets and 63k likes. Nick retweeted it and added this:

Meanwhile, another user talked about Bridget.

CALM DOWN FOR A MINUTE

I'd like to point out that all of this information comes from weebs who ran the site through machine translation. I've been a professional JP-EN translator for over a decade. Here's what's actually true.

1. The official profile on the Japanese Strive site, the one that everyone's been machine translating, does not use any pronouns whatsoever. This is mainly due to the structure of the Japanese language, where the subject of sentences is frequently inferred instead of being stated explicitly. Japanese machine translation often defaults to male pronouns when none can be found in a sentence. This may also be related to the next point.

2. The official profile on the global Strive site is an accurate translation. In fact, this is an extremely tight translation with no liberties taken whatsoever. As a result, the following point was made possible:

3. The official profile on the global Strive site does not use any pronouns whatsoever, instead using Bridget's name. While this is nonstandard and may sound unusual to a native English speaker, this is grammatically correct. It also has the added effect of completely sidestepping the issue of pronouns.

4. I have not seen any screenshots or footage of Bridget's profile inside Strive in both the Japanese and localized versions. This means I can't speak to the accuracy of anything outside of the official media provided by Arc System Works.

If someone would like to provide me with screenshots or footage of the game, I'd be happy to verify, but for now, don't go running off half-cocked because some weeb knows how to use Google Translate.

The last image does read "Because... I'm a girl!"

However, keep in mind that this is stated by Bridget, who has historically been unreliable at best when it comes to this topic. I wouldn't take this as ArcSys's official statement on the character's gender. A screenshot of Bridget's profile inside the game, where it lists the character's gender, would be definitive.

A little off-topic, but this translation is surprisingly accurate, for the most part. "Policore" (ポリコレ) is an abbreviation for "political correctness," in case it wasn't clear from the context.

The blacked-out word is 「キチガイ」 (kichigai), which essentially means "crazy" or "mentally ill." However, it's a slur that doesn't really have an analogue in English with the same emotional impact. It's frequently censored in print and other media, if it's used at all.

I especially like how they nailed the "bussy" translation. The Japanese word is 「ケツマンコ」(ketsumanko), literally a combination of the words for "ass(hole)" (ketsu) and "pussy" (manko). I'd recommend that any aspiring Japanese learners add it to their vocabulary and use it as much as possible.

The irony is almost all the examples he retweeted that for are kinda wrong. Not that it matters to the Twittersphere. They still say Naoto from Persona 4 is trans despite it not being true.

2018 was Zombieland Saga. Lily is a boy who dressed up as a female idol. All the official descriptions for her say she's "actually a boy" and pretty much treat the character as a gimmick.

2019 he claims was Stars Align, an actual LGBT anime. No one argued against that though. They just said it sucked. Which it did, and it was cancelled. The director ended up begging overseas fans to save his show because there was no interest for it in Japan.

2020 was Yamato from One Piece. Not a trans man as people say. All official merchandise calls her a girl and even gets promoted under the Strong Females of One Piece brand line.

2021 was Wonder Egg Priority. People were swearing Momoe was trans because she's a tomboy, but she wasn't. There was a trans man character but the whole plot of the show is it's about a hell dimension for girls. So the fact the character was there means the show says trans men are still women. Also the show went into heavy biotruth and anti-women stuff that ended up making it one of ANN/woke anime fans most hated shows of 2021 despite them championing it early on because they thought Momoe was trans.

2022 is now Bridget, I guess. But yeah, the she/her stuff is only in English localization and Japan still calls him a boy.

So he went viral for a pretty factually wrong statement.

Predictably, they have just covered Vic losing the appeals.

Given how they were one of the main sources of all this drama in the first place, this just feels wrong.
They also make special mention of Vic probably having to pay more attorney’s fees. Wonder if the forums are masturbating over the potential for price gouging (or whatever the legal term for jacking up fees is).

Didn’t that egg anime lead one Twitter user to go full on YWNBAW before his account was suspended?

It's always funny the show they champion for being progressive ends up not being progressive the last episode of wonder egg priority.

THANK YOU for bringing up Zombie Land Saga and Lily. Not once in the show did it say that Lily wanted to be a woman, it just said she wanted to be cute. (Also, I interpreted Masao assuming the role of Lily as a way to help his father cope with the loss of his wife, but I'll just keep it at that.)

ANN is slipping.
For once, Bounding into Comics managed to publish their article about a topic before ANN.
This is twice now that ANN has been beaten to the punch.
ANN should change their name to Late N' Gay.

Oh it's much worse than that. Around the time of S1, some Twittards thought their was trooning in the show, because either Sakura or Lily's socks were the same colored strip design as the tranny pride flag.
