Valve isn't blameless. They constantly promote "charity events" from TF2 community and many of them proudly choose Trevor Project as the "charity". Yes, the Groomer Project that seeks out autistic teens to turn them into troons and provides tools to hide the conversations from parents by cleaning cookies and browsing history. Then Steam jannies clean up any dissent for them. And remember TF2 source code leak? It was an unstable tranny that did it, a fact which everyone tried to hide. That troon was a part of some cabal with Valve News Network and friends where they had direct contacts to the devs.

It really says a lot how criticizing someone means you automatically hate them to these people. This kind of over sensitivity when it comes to social interactions breeds people like Lucas and others covered on the site. Lucas could never be friends with any of his critics, the minute someone oversteps his predetermined "line" of what's okay to say about him, he wants them on their knees groveling for forgiveness like Hunter Avallone did before Lucas went off the rails and called him a manipulative gaslighter.
