"Mad at the Internet" - a/k/a My Psychotherapy Sessions

Null you'd be able to play Vampyr...its basically a walking simulator

People complained that you didn't plug your gaming channel correctly after streaming the 1st part. It seems to have really hit your numbers. You were at 700+ on part 1.

Also looking forward to more comfy vidya streams. I think Dota's the most boring shit, but you somehow made it watchable.
I checked the statistics for the first stream and 66% of traffic came from sidebar suggestions for my subscribers coincidentally on YT at the time. I did plug the new channel and I did announce it in community posts on the main. It's just that, unless you sub, you won't see it.

Never thought I'd be interested in watching a round of DOTA, but that was pretty entertaining. I suppose anything can be engaging to watch if the person playing is having fun.

If you're currently doing spooky narrative driven games that contain a bit of action, but the main focus is narrative and choices, you should definitely consider Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines.

As for the videos with chat and no chat, maybe the best option would be to upload the preferable version to youtube and the other to odyssee.

@Null , apologies if I'm forgetting or never heard/noticed that this may have already been addressed, but I have an idea for getting donations in another way that would also be engaging for viewers with an element of reward.

The MATI Jukebox (or Slobbermutt Jukebox, Hamdance Jukebox, whatever) could be fun if the required technical aspects are viable. For some streams at your own discretion, you pick a few songs and put them up for a vote as soon as possible before that stream. A MATI Jukebox thread for Farmers to suggest songs that we'd pay votes towards could help you get some ideas, but not obligate you to pick songs you'd hate. Hell, that thread might make stickers useful. People vote by donating under the song they want, and the song with the most money voted towards it is played as an outro or intro. Any donations that went towards a song that didn't win is either refunded or just not processed in the first place, that way no one feels bitter or cheated.

Maybe it's a dumb idea, IDFK. It's probably dumb since it involves technology and I thought of it. I have no idea if software or other functions for something like this even exist. What do you think?

I feel that people would use this opportunity to make Josh listen to nothing but anime songs.

I have to say if your quicktime reactions stayed at the same level it was at the start of the House of Ash game, I wouldn't have wanted to stick around. I get that the UI was hard to read, but it was still rough to watch. You were on top of it in the second stream though, good job!

Will the gaming streams be backed up on Odysee? You know the problems with Youtube better than I do. Unless I have missed where it is being archived that is, I have been known to be a blind motherfucker.

Nah, he just won't put anime songs up for voting if he doesn't want to. Or do you mean when sifting through the suggestions thread? He could just avoid anything that has a weeby title or thumbnail, I guess. For this reason, I wouldn't blame him if he adopted a policy for refusing to sample directly uploaded audio for consideration.

I wonder if early internet looping garbage from the flash days would irritate him too, though. Just pages of legit-looking Youtube videos that end up being Banana Phone, Badger Badger Badger and Peanut Butter Jelly Time with a few Rickrolls for posterity. Poor jannies.

The game is great, you get to infiltrate the Liberalists and kill Zombie Sarg'N.

Streaming group Vinesauce used to have a large playlist of short funny videos, music, clips and skits that they played when a streamer was AFK. I recommend checking it out, there's a lot of fun old Internet content.
Maybe there could be something like a MATI autopilot, the videos that get posted to the frontpage would be perfect for it. And suggestions for videos could be posted and voted for in a separate thread.

Seeing all the screeching at cloudflare from the Ralphamale & tranny army alliance, I wonder- what are the actual ramifications of CF dropping the site?
According to this it doesn't actually help protect from DDOS, right? So why is it actually needed?

Is there a chance we will get sequal spotlight streams in the future? Like for prominent cows from early or recent videos had significsnt stories after (or because) their MATI episode. It would probably be best to do them oce their story end. For example, if Yaniv goes to jail, Chantal dies, whatever becomes of Keffals eventually, etc

Even subbing won't guarantee that people will see community posts, unfortunately.

Youtube is really shitty with its notification system. I've been an hour into a MATI and suddenly got a notification for the stream I was currently watching. Community posts are even worse: sometimes I'll get a ping when a post first gets released by a channel I'm subscribed to, other times I'll get notified several days later.

I don't know it all this is intentional (like YT is purposefully holding back notifications for certain channels) or if YT is just shit, but I've made it a habit of checking my subscriptions manually every day instead of relying on youtube to notify me. Can't do that with community posts tho.

Perhaps because no contemporary Youtube developers know what it is, the RSS feed system works well for notifications. The MATI feed will, like the rest, generally update within a few minutes - at this point, I don't have a Google account and handle video feeds entirely through RSS.
Edit: I'm exceptional and mangled the link. Of course, there's also the more permanent https://madattheinternet.libsyn.com/rss

This is too gay and parasocial. I know the idea of "if you don't like it, don't watch" is a cliche but if Null started a faceblog and exclusively discussed Linux I just wouldn't tune in because it's not to my interest.

Worrying about a grown man's life changing by becoming a "generic youtuber" is unnecessary. He's a big boy, he can handle making diverse content. If it sucks, no one will show up.
Alright here's the non-gay reasons I don't like it. I have shit to do so I can't always watch live but I want to see chat. I also archive these streams and if chat isn't on screen then at best I can get a live-chat json from yt-dlp. There's no real way to integrate that or play it with the video that I know of and any other archives are probably going to be missing chat entirely.
It's a spooky horror game, you can't get immersed if you have a bunch of dudes spamming the n-word on the side the entire time. I think removing the chat for videogame streams is a good decision. It's not like this is replacing the friday streams, it's just an optional bonus you don't have to watch if you don't want to.
Are people really getting "immersed" in the game when jersh is making jokes about sargoyles and the sound effects are turned down so he can talk over them? I'm not buying it. I also don't think 'it's extra so if you don't like it just don't watch it' really apply when you're changing something that already exists. I liked the life is strange streams in no small part because they still had their chat.
