Guys, don't make jokes about otherkin because gators are gonna going to use against transexuals:

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=195932000&postcount=1441

It leads to people who use the gamergate hashtag to attack the trans community...

Don't forget to not bitch about outrage culture:

I think these tweets by Katherine Cross explain why I have a prombelm with this "joke" and why its dispointing see comments like "Outrage culture!', "Its's just a joke, lighten up":

I was hopeful after what after what @Ruin mentioned, things weren't as bad as they had seemed.

Sadly, that was wishful thinking. The weebs have been going over Fire Emblem: Fates, and some really depressing shit has come to light:

Challenge Our Fates said:
If you are upset by Nintendo's localization decisions regarding not just Fire Emblem, but also to Xenoblade Chronicles X, Fatal Frame 5, and over two decades of games, then we would like your help! You deserve to be heard, and right now, the loudest message we can send directly to Nintendo is that we won't stand for a localization team that cuts content and poorly translates games to the US audience. By sharing this message and using the hashtag #ChallengeourFates, you will be spreading awareness to others who may not be aware of Nintendo's localization practices, and you will also be sending a direct message that you will not stand for shoddy localized content any longer.

Out of all the Nintendo games to be localized, Fates has to be the most butchered, censored, and poorly written of them all. Let's go down the list of what's changing.

Edited support dialogues - In the Western release for Fates, the support conversations between Corrin and Soleil have been completely removed or altered entirely. http://www.siliconera.com/2016/01/21/fire-emblem-fates-will-controversial-dialogue-removed-west/

Removed mechanics - In the Western release for Fates, the infamous head patting minigame has been removed. There is no good reason for this removal; the minigame is entirely optional. Removing it is incredibly illogical, if you don't want to play the minigame, you don't have to. http://nintendoeverything.com/remov...es-petting-mini-game-in-the-west-reconfirmed/

Removed audio - In the Western release for Fates, the Japanese audio for characters has been cut. Nintendo did not give any reason as to why, but one can assume it was due to the great alterations in text that were made.http://www.escapistmagazine.com/new...Fates-Has-More-Stuff-Cut-From-Western-Release

Terrible writing and translations - In the Western release for Fates, we can clearly see that the localization team are terrible translators, and even worse writers. I really think the images speak for themselves. The rewriting itself is also an issue; I want to read the same text the Japanese read when they played this game. Text should only be edited during a localization to make it coherent. Example 1 -https://twitter.com/MarcheWasRight/status/697983033010315264 Example 2 -https://twitter.com/FuwaFuwaText/status/697984441822478336 Example 3 -https://twitter.com/Sirixu/status/698106038659121152

Removed outfits - In the Western release for Fates, they even removed simple outfits meant to customize your characters. This is about as petty as it can get. http://i.imgur.com/tvGAKsO.jpg

Upon further research, other differences have been found between the JP and NA versions of Fates.
The head patting minigame was replaced with a minigame where you blow air into the microphone to wake up your spouse, which renders the support bonuses gotten from the minigame effectively useless.
Compared to the JP version's 3196 audio files, the NA version only has 1208 due to the minigame being cut out.
Skills and classes have changed in name only, including traditional names that had been around for many games. For example. the Pegasus Knight is now the Sky Knight.

The English voice acting is apparently terrible because the actors were only given lines and were not told of the personality, age, or other things about the character that they were voice acting for. http://nichegamer.com/2016/02/nintendo-gives-practically-no-information-to-english-voice-actors/

This is simply unacceptable. Cut content warrants cut prices, yet one still has to pay $80 to get both versions of the game, plus an extra $20 to get Revelations. Nintendo's western audience is being ripped off, and this is in no way acceptable. We need to convince Nintendo that western gamers will not stand for such drastic edits made during localization. Nintendo's transparency during the game's localization has been equally terrible; It took a large amount of badgering to get a confirmation from Nintendo in order to determine if the Soleil support conversations were truly edited. This ambiguity makes it very hard to interact with Nintendo.

I'm a gamer, and I just want to enjoy my games. I'm having a hard time enjoying Nintendo's games due to their localization team's disregard for the source material by cutting content, shoehorning memes, and infantilizes it's audience.

#ChallengeourFates is tied to #TorrentialDownpour. To those of you that want to do something more direct than just talking, follow this guide () and you'll be a big help. Not only that, but you will be able to pay for the full game and play it legally. If you decide to buy the JP version of the game, go search around on the internet for a good fan translation and how to use it. As a disclaimer, I'd not do this if you cannot put something like Homebrew on your 3DS, which most fan translations will probably require (or something similar to it, at least). Purchase at your own risk.

So according to the weebs, there's a ton of shit that got absolutely shredded. I'm willing to take their word for it. Sadly, this is not the extent of it, as more recent analysis has revealed that this is only the tip of the iceberg:

One Angry Gamer said:
There’s an additional image in the Twitter feed attached from 8chan where they explain all of the content that’s been altered or removed from the Japanese version of Fire Emblem Fates when it made its way through Nintendo’s Treehouse localization process. They mentioned that out of the total 3,196 audio files, the North American version only contains 1,208. So yes, 1,988 audio cues are missing. Many attribute this to the missing head-petting mini-game that was supposedly removed from Fire Emblem Fates, even though some conflicting reports like the one from Go Nintendo state that maybe the head-petting isn’t completely removed.

According to the post various character changes were made, names were altered and some skill names were changed. One of the more damning charges is that the voice actors allegedly lacked proper direction by the Treehouse localizers. This was covered in a report by Niche Gamer. However, later the voice actress tried clearing up what she meant and opted to have an interview with Niche Gamer about the topic, following the original video being taken down where the claim was made.

A thread over on /r/Games/ from user Zhaoshike also gained quite a bit of popularity after he pointed out how the localization team completely altered one character’s entire personality from what it was in the Japanese version, linking to a pastebin of other changes that the localization team took liberties with in Fire Emblem Fates.

That's pretty bad, and reflects badly on Nintendo. So does the fanbase essentially being willing to go nuclear over this. But do you know know what reflects even worse? The fact that recently, several at said localization pit for this game openly admitted to either making shit up entirely, not knowing Japanese, and/or being openly in the tank for censoring the game outright:

And then we have this asshat:

I make no beans about me being a shameless Atlus fan. My favorite game series, period, is the Etrian Odyssey series, and Atlus is responsible for some of my favorite games over the years, from the ridiculously deep Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen to the delightfully insane Luminous Arc. That said, as an Atlus fan, the coming and going of Nich Maragos is something that fans have watched with oversized swords readied. If you're not familiar, Maragos is essentially someone who tried to do at Atlus what Treehouse has done at Nintendo. He was rather infamous for pushing the angle that Senran Kagura shouldn't be localized, calling on others to block it outright, despite the fact that the weeb audience already made abundantly clear the fact that they would buy it like hotcakes served extra hot with delicious hotcake sauce shipped directly from hotcake land in the middle of a hotcake famine. Suffice to say, Atlus made pretty clear that, as a company that mostly exists to enable the weeb audience (and oldschool RPG-playing shitheels like me), they weren't tolerating this shit.

TL;DR: Maragos didn't get his way, ragequit after it became clear Atlus was getting ready to fire his ass, and now he works at Treehouse doing to NOA's games what Maragos and friends wanted to do at Atlus. Oh, and he's been nailed in a conflict-of-interest scandal, naturally, because cronyism comes more naturally to these idiots than fucking breathing.

Almost 20 years ago, we saw NOA kill their "nanny" policy. It wasn't missed. Yet here we are now, and it is as if nothing were ever learned, with the big difference being that instead of coming from on high, the censorship is now coming from localization houses, where (they hope) you'll never be able to hear about it. In this regard, the weebs done good. The only way Nintendo will shape up is if it takes economic damage from this, and the weeb audience seems gearing up to accomplish just that.

Godspeed, you autistic bastards.

If the localization houses are taking money to do one thing for a company and are then doing something entirely different, that's fraud. If the companies they're defrauding lose money as a result, they can sue the localization houses.

The cheating just made him a cuck as well as the fact that he put up with it and kept this slut as a gf.

Gjoni is not some hero. He's just an angry cuck.

The most glaringly unfair part of that whole affair is that he was obviously the abused half of that couple, and his slut gf Zoe was openly emotionally abusive in public.

The fact that she then silenced him using a legal process reserved for protecting abused spouses, when she was the abusive one, just really made it super obvious what a cunt she was.

Throwing in abuse of the First Amendment just really rubbed salt into the wound.

Fuck this evil cunt.
It's not clear Gjoni was in a relationship with her. When I read the log it seemed more like he had been friend zoned (perhaps after some dating), and was bitter about not getting any tail or enough attention from Zoe; so posted chat logs to make out like his "girlfriend" had cheated on him. Zoe seemed genuinely sorry that cuck Gjoni had strong feelings for her, and probably didn't like seeing her friend in pain.

Gjoni should have chalked the "relationship" up to experience.

So are you saying that van Valkenburg was committing perjury when she swore under oath that Gjoni was her ex-boyfriend?

She was upset when Gjoni when to the court with his new girlfriend, if both of them were not having any relationship then why the jealousy? also all the cucks that interviewed her writed that he was his ex, source: chelsea herself, they even used some porn pics that chelsea did herself and claimed that was Revenge porn, go check that out in google

are you getting bored? need a drink?

But Nintendo's localization is done in-house, no? "Treehouse" is just a cute name for it.

Because somehow is "not the real" Nintendo or just NOA, and people really are adamant to think that most NOA decisions are made by NOA and not headquaters.

Jaimas, I remember Nich was a regular poster in Neogaf (but ended not being particularly popular with the mods by end of it, Persona Arena being Region locked) and I don't remember he being outright SJW or even pushing a ban on Senran Kagura. In fact, one of the key reasons why no other localization houses picked out was because Xseed was partially owned (and now is fully owned) by Marvelous, and Marvelous always wanted to publish Senran kagura in the west. In fact, I remmeber that when the localization houses were not afraid of SJW mods in Gaf, there were stong hints from localizers that (including Atlus) that Senran Kagura was going to Xseed.

As I remember, Nich is actually from the period where Atlus had pretty positve localizations and started to not ofuscate stuff that a regular SJW would find problematic (Nocturne, Catherine and Persona 3/4) , so dunno where that fame of "SJW" comes from. Is starting to get pretty annoying the Treehouse blind witch hunt when the last time a Treehouse employer was brought to the shitstorm was a PR person and now the only thinq that confirm SJW tendencies from that guy is a contextless tweet.

I dunno, some of the guys pushing for hunting localization houses in KIA are the kind of guys that seem being infamous in localization forums for being "hardcore or nagging for every single change", and the level of misinformation in this cases is leaving the impression someone using this stuff to get KIA as a "personal army" or "false flag operations".

I'm actually glad you posted this. The guy's got a level of hate from some in the Atlus-following community that borders on Matt Wardian, and though hateboners like that usually have a basis in reality, I decided to dig a bit deeper for curiousity's sake. KIA's argument that he might be involved in malfeasance? That's their thing. I care only about the fact that he has an agenda and he's willing to push that shit.

And in that regard, I've been pleasantly surprised.

I've done additional research since the last post, digging through old stuff, and it heavily suggests that Nich was less someone outright drinking the Kool-Aid and more someone who's toed the line out of necessity and doesn't really buy into it. In fact, disregarding the fact that he was on NeoGAF. the sperging over Senran Kagura, and this fucking shambles wherein he argues that Social Justice Warriors aren't real and that "games are expanding" (the same canard we've seen quite often by now):

He has relatively little modern stuff to directly tie him to the usual suspects. Color me surprised, considering that these people are usual a labyrinthine spidernest of interconneced relationships. Don't get me wrong, it's not like he hasn't both fessed up to his being for SocJus and backing the usual lunacy to some degree:

Just a reminder, we know the Brianna Wu one was bullshit.
But then he'll go and say something like this and you are forced to take pause a moment:

What I've gathered from all this crap is that he isn't as much of a shit as some of the others we've seen. He's less an out-and-out shill and someone who's just following along because on some level, he believes the hype. I no longer think that he's quite as indicative of the bigger problem like many suspected, but abusing the good will and trust of others is how the usual suspects tends to get a foot in the door, and given what's been going on, people have every right to be worried about the slippery slope that presents, even if he isn't directly involved with that shit.

That said, he's doing himself no favors with some of the crap we've seen out of his account recently. The fact that he's threatened to block anyone who asks him about his work for Nintendo isn't doing a damned thing to ease the minds of those who think he's part of the problem, and it's only going to get worse if that accusation of malfeasance has any actual fruit to it.

Gaming politics is a fucking awful game, man. It's almost as bad a game as Twitter.

That is way better investigated Jaimas. The guy was totally the kind the type that doesn;t do himself any favors (getting touchy by the term Fatlus, believing for years that GB Persona 4 Endurence Run was "mocking the game, prefer getting banned from Gaf because he didn't want to interact after the Persona 4 Arena debacle, etc) but he was never a blatant SJW parasite like Leigh and others.

Treehouse's localizations are handled entirely by the NoA branch, which combined with the completely different translation style of NoE, makes people think this is just a cancer in NoA for the most part.

In NoA's defense? This one isn't from their release. It's from the Fantranslation- which is still a wip, and a few lines slipped entirely. I'm pretty sure I got the first and second screen caps in the version I've been playing.

The rest of this trainwreck is aaaall them, though.

Can we just make memes and references illegal in games? Or at least put a bloody limit on them?

I don't even know why they do it. All it does is date the game and create cringe when you play again in a few years. There are also more subtle ways to do it than putting it in your dialogue. Easter eggs have been in games since forever for that very reason

Imagine popping in a game from 200X and seeing this shit.

I think Nintendo really just proved that they should not be allowed to translate anything unless there is a man with a 2 by 4 nearby to belt them if they go too far from the original text.

Saizo/Beruka C support in America is literally all just goddamn '...'s. And I wish I was kidding.
